R.O.A.R! (Responsible Ovarian Awareness Required) Our mission is to educate women to recognize the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. To seek evaluation and treatment by a qualified professional.

Every year thousands of women across the United States die from ovarian cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 21,550 new cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed this year, with 14,600 of them dying from the disease, but on a more positive note, it’s worth mentioning that these numbers do represent a decrease from statistics from previous years. They estimate that 790 of those

women will be in Pennsylvania alone! The majority of these women will be diagnosed in late stage disease when the survival rate is poor. It is crucial that we continue our efforts to educate women, physicians and the public to the signs, symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer and to help them acquire the knowledge to seek evaluation and treatment by qualified professionals. The risk increases with age and decreases with pregnancy. Lifetime risk is about 1.6%, but women with affected first-degree relatives have a 5% risk.
