We are a theatre with a purpose: to touch every element of production in a positive, motivating, and open environment by using innovative techniques, to craft productions that inspire, entertain, awaken, and elevate the theatrical soul. Alchemy Theatre Company seeks to transform our environment not only by producing innovative theatre, but also by engaging our community on many levels with these p

· Community & Education Outreach: bringing high quality theatre to under-served communities and providing supplemental material to teachers to help present core curriculum through theatre activities.

· Professional Leadership Programs: apprenticeships, internships, and mentoring that allow theatre practitioners at all levels of experience to explore all parts of the process.

· Actors Alchemy Academy: workshops, intensive residencies, and private coaching for new and experienced actors taught by ensemble members.

· New Works Development: readings and workshops to assist playwrights and composers in bringing new works to the public.

Alchemy Theatre Company is seeking actors AND choir for The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Audition Information:

When: September 5th, 5-8pm. September 6th, 10am-1pm.

Call backs will be held by invite only on September 8th

Where: 4676 Lakeview Ave, Suite 213B, Yorba Linda, CA 92886

What to Prepare: Based on the role(s) you are auditioning for, please prepare ONE song from the provided sides as well as the Harmony Check, singing the part that best represents your singing voice. PLEASE SEE AUDITION FORM.

Pay for Actors: $100 to $250 based on role. Please see above form for specific stipends for each role.

Pay for Vocal Only Choir: This is an UNPAID role. These singers will not be required to perform any onstage blocking and will consist of a powerful emotional choir that underscores and sets the mood of the entire piece. We are looking for 16 powerful voices to fill out the production and give the score the gravitas it deserves. Rehearsal commitment is very low.

Shows will be November 13-29 Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm, with additional Saturday matinees at 2:00pm as needed.

Synopsis:
Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel.

The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be “Out There,” observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful Romani woman, Esmeralda. A sweeping score and powerful story make The Hunchback of Notre Dame an instant classic. Audiences will be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical.

Populated with colorful, complex, hilarious characters, Jane Wagner and Lily Tomlin’s brilliant one-woman show explores themes of identity, art, power, and the struggles of the feminist movement in America.

Lily Tomlin’s one woman tour-de-force won the Drama Desk Award and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as well as a Tony for Best Actress. From Trudy, the houseless savant, to Chrissy, the vapid gym bunny, this parade of engaging and insightful character studies may be performed by one or several actresses.
