🌉 DCC Awareness Day “Build-A-Bridge” Contest! 🌉

DCC Awareness Day is on July 2, 2026, and the NODCC is so excited to celebrate our community and bring awareness to this important part of our lives! Celebrate DCC Awareness with us by participating in our contest.

👉 Contest goal: The Corpus Callosum is the “bridge” between the hemispheres of the brain, so we’re going to foster awareness by building actual bridges! You can make your bridge out of sticks, Lego bricks, recycled materials, puzzle pieces, paper, straws, paint and paper – ANY material you’ve got on hand that could create a bridge!

👉 How to Enter: Send the photo of your bridge and information by Friday, June 26th to this Google form: https://forms.gle/PdfokEVyJc19xeTG7.

👉 If You Win: We will announce the winner via social media and contact you via email. The winner will receive their very own NODCC-branded t-shirt to show off for DCC Awareness Day!

All entries will be featured on our social media account, so feel free to include yourself in the photo of your bridge so we can see its designer(s)! Please direct contest questions to [email protected].

Join us for Part 4 of our 4-part Natural History Research Webinar Series:
“Emergence of ASD and Other Diagnoses in Later Childhood”

June 16
5:00 pm PST / 6:00 pm MST / 7:00 pm CST / 8:00 pm EST
Presenters: Ella Bohlman, B.S. and Lynn K. Paul, Ph.D.

Natural History research helps bridge the gap between patient experience and professional expertise by transforming real-life stories into the empirical evidence that informs medical, therapeutic, and educational care.

Through the Natural History Fellowship, sponsored by NODCC, researchers are working to turn families’ experiences into knowledge that helps professionals better understand the wide range of outcomes in Disorders of the Corpus Callosum (DCC).

This session focuses on early development, including:
- Developmental diagnoses (e.g., ASD, ADHD)
- Diagnosed developmental delay
- Psychological diagnoses

Whether you are a family member, self-advocate, clinician, educator, or researcher, this webinar will provide valuable insights into patterns that may shape early development and long-term outcomes in DCC.

👉 Reserve your spot and be part of the conversation that turns lived experience into knowledge: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/_FrDtlT6STiG0sJYPXWccw

We look forward to seeing you there!

*This Webinar will be recorded and published on the NODCC YouTube channel. If you do not wish for your image to appear in the recording, please keep your camera turned off during the session.*

As we continue prepping for this summer’s Conference in Atlanta, we are constantly reminded that this gathering happens because of more than one committee, one sponsor, or one plan. It is built by the strength of this entire community. As you know (because this might be your experience), for many families, our conference is the first place to meet others who truly understand life with DCC. It is a place where children, teens, adults, parents, caregivers, researchers, and professionals can come together for connection, education, and hope. We know that it’s a place for families to finally feel less alone.

Right now, we are actively working to secure the support needed to make our conference meaningful, accessible, and welcoming for everyone who attends. We need your help. There are many ways you can get involved:

- Introduce us to a business, employer, foundation, or community group that may be
interested in sponsoring.
- Ask a local business to donate a gift card, door prize, welcome bag item, or service.
- Help us identify exhibitors who provide resources for families.
- Make a financial gift to help offset conference costs or support a family scholarship.
- Share our conference information with someone who may want to be part of this work.

No connection or donation is too small. A $25 gift card can become a door prize. A workplace introduction can lead to a sponsor. A shared post can reach a family who has never heard of NODCC. Every act of support helps create the conference experience our families need and deserve.

To help with conference sponsorships, local business outreach, in-kind donations, exhibitors, or family scholarship support, please contact Naomi ([email protected]).

As part of NODCC’s ongoing In Utero Diagnosis Stories series, we are honored to share the experiences of parents who have navigated the uncertainty and hope that often accompany a prenatal diagnosis. These remind families that while every journey is unique, no one has to walk alone. For Heather Richmond, that journey began more than 20 years ago, when prenatal imaging and information were far more limited than they are today.

Heather first learned that something was wrong during her pregnancy at around 20 weeks. Living in New Jersey at the time, she and her family were suddenly thrust into a world of specialists, testing, and unanswered questions. It was not until week 30, after undergoing a maternal fetal MRI in Cleveland, that Heather finally received a diagnosis for her daughter, Sabine: complete agenesis of the corpus callosum.
