Friends Southwest family, as Easter approaches, may we prepare our hearts with expectancy and high praise! The celebration of Jesus' Triumphal Entry is found in all four gospels and we pray that our hearts would cry out just as others did 2000 years ago, "Hosanna in the highest!" because even now, Jesus is moving in and through us, ushering in His Kingdom here on earth, may we find joy, strength, and ultimately, Him in our everyday life.

We are praying with and for you FSW family, Happy Palm Sunday!

FSW family earlier this year we were blessed to have Jay Hewitt share with us at our Pastors Conference. Now his book is out and the documentary “Dear Hero,” will be released on Amazon Prime on Nov. 23.

In light of these huge milestones we are inviting you to join in celebrating all that God is doing in and through Jay on Sunday, Nov. 19 from 4:30-7P.

During this free event at the Yorba Linda Worship Center and Pavilion, you’ll get to see an exclusive pre-screening of Jay’s award-winning documentary, “Dear Hero,” in advance of its release on Amazon Prime on Nov. 23. We will also be celebrating his incredible book "I am weak, I am strong: building a resilient faith for a resilient life."

Jay himself will be on hand to sign copies of his book, which you can purchase at the event or on Amazon. Click the link to RSVP today!

Day 10.
Psalm 100

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations."

Day Nine.
Henri J.M. Nouwen

"Gratitude ... goes beyond the 'mine' and 'thine' and claims the truth that all of life is a pure gift. In the past I always thought of gratitude as a spontaneous response to the awareness of gifts received, but now I realize that gratitude can also be lived as a discipline. The discipline of gratitude is the explicit effort to acknowledge that all I am and have is given to me as a gift of love, a gift to be celebrated with joy."

Day Eight.
A.W. Tozer

“Gratitude is an offering precious in the sight of God, and it is one that the poorest of us can make and be not poorer but richer for having made it.”

Day Seven.
G.K. Chesterton

"I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder."

Day Six.
Tweed Moore
Citrus Heights Friends Church

WHAT are you grateful for?
"I am grateful to God for the privilege of serving Him vocationally. I love to witness life and heart change. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach, build relationships and develop systems for God's glory. While ministry can be fulfilling, it can also stretch one to the point of breaking. The goodness of God in the seasons of growth, pruning, pain and joy is always evident and reason for much gratitude."

WHO are you grateful for?
"I am grateful for my wife and children. My wife Cyndi and I have walked together in ministry for 34 years (I went full-time about a year before we got married). In good times and challenging times she has been a refuge and a rock for our home and has faithfully served in the church alongside me. My children, Elissa, Christian, and Jace are all currently serving Jesus and play prominent roles at CHFC. I am grateful for my children as I have seen the fruit of their lives and love for Jesus even in tough seasons of life. I cannot imagine m life without any of them. I will be forever grateful to God for blessing me with them."

What HAPPENED this month for which I'm grateful?
"I feel that God has given me clear steps to greater personal life transformation over the past couple of months and I'm already seeing positive results."

Day Five.
Troy Wong
Gateway Friends Church

WHAT are you grateful for?
"I'm grateful for the Gateway family. I'm grateful for the way the Lord ministers through them to each other. I'm grateful for their flexibility, tolerance of my shepherding (or lack thereof), steadfastness in trusting God, and loyalty to each other."

WHO are you grateful for?
"Honestly, I am most grateful for Jesus. If it wasn't for Him, I'd be a horrible person with a sour attitude and dead-end eternity. If it wasn't for Him, I wouldn't be in ministry. And I love serving the Lord as pastor of GfC. Humanly speaking, not that Jesus isn't human, but you know what I mean. Humanly speaking, I'm grateful for my wife. She makes me laugh, she encourages me and we've made it thus far. We're transitioning into empty nesters and grandparenthood at the same time and I think we're adjusting well."

What's ONE THING I enjoy about my ministry recently?
"I enjoy our church staff, we've been together for a long time. We know each other well, we've walked through some hard things together. We laugh a lot and don't take ourselves too seriously. I have fun serving with them."

Day Four.
Tyler Lemen
Birch Street Friends Church

WHAT are you grateful for?
"I am always blown away by how selfless people are with their time in volunteering in different capacities at church. It is a constant reminder that God is actively working in transforming lives."

WHO are you grateful for?
"I am grateful for my 4 kids because they keep me humble!"

What is DIFFERENT today than it was a year ago that I'm grateful for?
"We planted a church! Being able to come alongside God in the work that He is doing here at Birch Street Friends Church and the community around us has been a huge blessing."

What HAPPENED recently for which I'm grateful?
"I had the opportunity to interview a few people (age 10 to 55) about their experience here at the church over the last year. It was really special to see what God is teaching people and how they are growing in their faith."
