Groundwork Hudson Valley For more than a decade Groundwork Hudson Valley has been a dynamic force for change in distressed communities in the lower Hudson Valley.

Groundwork Hudson Valley creates change in urban neighborhoods through community-based partnerships that promote resilience infrastructure, youth leadership, and economic opportunity. Groundwork works to make neglected neighborhoods more livable and sustainable through an array of on-the-ground environmental projects that directly involve local residents.

The doors of the Groundwork Hudson Valley Speakeasy are opening tomorrow at 6:30 and we have big plans for the night! We’ve got fabulous live music, hearty bites, full bar, and auction goodies…including a Private Party aboard the Science Barge with its sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Palisades. You and your guests will enjoy complimentary case of fine w**e and assorted soft drinks. Our team will be available to recommend local vendors if you choose to purchase food or additional beverages. The Science Barge crew will offer casual tours and share river lore. The Science Barge is open from June to October. We will work with you to choose the perfect date and time. The Barge, also known as “The Judy”, is anchored off the Hudson River shoreline at the historic Yonkers waterfront. We’ll have more great auction lots including NY Rangers tickets, an afternoon sailing on Long Island Sound, a trip to the Amalfi Coast, a private chef experience, and Broadway show tickets. You and three lucky friends will head out to Madison Square Garden to see the New York Rangers play the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, December 5th. Every great speakeasy has a great band! On Thursday, October 8th, "Gatsby Now" will bring their Prohibition-era jazz, French/Italian gypsy swing-waltz, and "vintaged" pop music to Groundwork Hudson Valley's Annual Gala. Looking for something fun to do tomorrow? Pop on over to The Science Barge! From 1 - 3pm Barge Captain Joel will be running a Mini-Beast Bonanza full of small critteres and smaller critters. 🙂 As always, both your entry and the program are free! If you're driving there's metered parking on the street or you can park in the Buena Vista Garage just around the corner. Or you can can take the bus to Getty Square or Beuna Vista Avenue or take the Metro North train to the Yonkers station. While you're there, you can take a walk around the Yonkers Daylighting Park, grab an ice cream, or stop for lunch. There are lots of good places to go!

Please join us on The Science Barge on Sunday to create your own artwork by drawing inspiration from the plants around us. We’ll learn how to do leaf rubbings and simple plant pressings with local materials. Admission to the barge is free from noon to 5 pm and our free art program will run from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Not to point out the obvious but it is HOT out there! We're down at the Riverfront Branch of the Yonkers Public Library today showing you the work we've done with the Hudson River Museum on excessive heat and shade structures. Stop by if you're out and about. We've got popsicles to cool you off. Big thanks to Con Edisonfor their support.
