A sad update on one of our long time colony residents (please see link below) -
Thanks to a supportive community the cats have been able to live out their lives well fed and cared for. Our GoFundMe contributions have been utilized to pay for the feedings of the colony members and are insufficient to reimburse for veterinary care.

Any additional contributions would be greatly appreciated at this time

In an amazing update- thanks to everyone’s support and the work of our tireless volunteers - we have had no new kitten litters for two whole summers. Our goal in coordinating these efforts was to trap and neuter the entire cat colony, to provide them with a happy and healthy life, and to prevent further growth of the colony. The colony is approximately 13 cats at this time. We regularly provide them feedings and keep our eye out for any new faces or health concerns. In order for us to continue our efforts we are seeking to replenish our funds which is used for food and any necessary healthcare expenses. Any donations are greatly appreciated!
With kind regards- the Sterling Avenue Cat Crew and our loyal cats-those pictured lovingly named Phantom, Creamsicle, Grumpy and Princess.

Emergency food needed and colony update.

The story of kittens Jingle and Sugar

We are happy to share that the Sterling Avenue cat crew is still working hard to support the original cat colony while also helping new faces around the Woodlawn neighborhood. This past year a mommy cat and set of kittens appeared in a Woodlawn neighbor’s yard. With the advice of our certified trapper the cats were placed on a feeding schedule as the neighbor gained their trust. The kittens were then trapped and fully vetted. They have been returned to their momma and are now living a bonded life under the care of the neighbor, whose daughters love them as their own outdoor pets and duly named them Jingle and Sugar.
The original cat colony continues to be regularly fed and managed by our volunteers. Food for the colony costs $100 a month, in addition to routine food donations. We are campaigning for donations of funds through our Go Fund Me and food through our Amazon wish list to continue to support the colony cats and ensure they have a happy and healthy life. Not only do the funds go to food, but are also used for vetting and treatment as necessary.

Thank you for all of the continued Woodlawn neighborhood support. This project began over three years ago and we’ve made a significant impact on the cats’ lives and helped reduce overpopulation.

Update: hello friends it’s been a while, but here is the latest

Last month one of our Sterling Avenue colony favorites, Haagen Dazs, had not attended the colony’s nightly feeding for a few days. When it turned into a week the volunteers became very concerned. Eventually, our little friend showed up but appeared to be suffering from a serious neck wound. We immediately took action, and within a day our wonderful rescuer was able to trap Haagan, and bring him to emergency care.

Luckily we had acted in the nick of time, as Haagen Dazs was suffering from a very deep and infected wound. Since our vet was unable to administer sutures until the infection had subsided, our trapper kindly gave Haagen Dazs a place to recuperate and heal. Medications and wound care were administered daily. Having recovered from the infection, Haagen was able to get stitches and continue to recover until they could be removed.

After a month and 3 vet visits, Haagen Dazs is back on his feet and ready to go hang out with his colony friends. We would like to thank you all for your support, we would not have had the funds to get Haagen the care and treatment he needed. Your donations, monitory and otherwise, have helped us to maintain a healthy and happy colony. We wanted to extend our thanks and gratitude for all your kindness.

Spring 2021 update on Sterling Avenue Cat Colony
It’s been a long winter, but a monumental spring - no kitten litters! All of our hard work of trapping and neutering the cat colony is paying off. We have successfully moved our feeding site to a new location and the cats are transitioning nicely. Many thanks to the dedicated volunteers and gracious neighbors through this process. We have also been able to provide aid to a colony cat with health concerns. This work could not be done without the support of some many good people, especially our donors. So we can continue with maintenance of the colony and provide healthcare as needed, we continue to collect donations on our Go Fund Me page for healthcare needs and through our Amazon wishlist for food and supplies. We are always looking for new volunteers to help with the feeding schedule, to foster cats that require socialization and, of course, to adopt and give these cats a caring home.

We hope hope you and your families are all doing well during this hard time. We have been busy caring for our colony of 34! and wanted to give everyone an update.

We have maintained a feeding schedule throughout the pandemic thanks to our tireless volunteers and generous donors. Despite our tremendous accomplishment of neuterIng 34 cats, we have recently had kitten sightings in the area. Our certified trapper is back in action trapping the moms and locating the kittens. If anyone is interested in fostering or adoption of a kitten at this time please contact me. With new mouths to feed, we are seeking donations of food which can easily be ordered through our Amazon wishlist. We also welcome monetary donations to our Go Fund Me for veterinary costs. Thank you for all the Woodlawn neighborhood support in this endeavor to reduce and maintain the stray cat population!

UPDATE: With your help, we have been able to fix and vaccinate 21 cats from this colony!! Thank you all for your support, donations, and assistance in this trap-neuter-adopt process!

We have adopted out 3 of the kittens and are fostering one juvenile for adoption. If anyone has interested in fostering or adopting please direct message me.

Many of the older cats have been returned to the colony, we will continue to fix and care for the rest. We have 3 winter shelters in place and the feeding schedule continues. Donations of food and volunteers to help with the feeding schedule are welcome.
