In creation of this page, we hope to further spread the awareness of the project and of our language. We believe that language is a vital part of keeping our culture alive. A Kalapuya family was approached by late Paul McCartney about the indigenous Kalapuya language once spoken throughout the Willamette Valley in Oregon. After years of dedication McCarntney was able to compile a complete four volume dictionary, which he finished shorty before his passing. We have made it our goal to print and publish this dictionary not only for McCartney but for the Kalapuya people and the land they traditionally called home.
With the help of many generous donations 150 full sets (2 Kalapuya-English and 2 English to Kalapuya. 4 books to a set.) were able to be printed. A suggested donation of $150 is being asked for a full set. However almost all the sets are already called for or donated. We are continually trying to raise more money to print more dictionaries, so we can continue to spread our language to any person, group, school or organization interested.
A GoFundMe account has been our main source of donations aside from a few very generous outside groups. We are now taking to Facebook to spread our word. Thank you in advance for any shares or likes!
