Yesterday was a big one.

We officially put up the sign at the entrance area for Farmy’s Off-Road Park.

It might seem like a small thing—but for me, it wasn’t.
This has been something I’ve been working toward for a long time, and honestly… something I had to push through a lot of fear to finally do.

Seeing it standing out there, something real, something people can actually see—it hit different.

Right after we got the sign up, the sun broke through and landed directly on the face on the sign… my brother, Mike aka Farmy.
He died in 2014, and this entire park is being built in his honor.

I don’t overthink things like that—but I felt that moment.

Huge thank you to for hand-painting this sign—it turned out better than I ever imagined.
And to everyone who showed up to help set the posts and get it installed—you know who you are. I couldn’t have done it without you.

And as if the day couldn’t get any better…

We also received a $15,000 sponsorship from Energy to support the Learners Loop / Tot Lot area. And for the “next era” of off-roaders—couldn’t be more fitting.

New chapter, same mission.

The Off-Road Business Association (ORBA) is relaunching with a powerhouse strategy to
protect the future of the off-road community.

We’re doubling down on our commitment to
land access for everything from powersports and dirt bikes to trucks and SUVs, but now
with a more powerful edge.

The Strategy:
• Data-First Advocacy: Using economic impact reports and consumer research to
make our case.
• Stronger Coalitions: Teaming up with other grassroots partners and outdoor
recreation advocates to amplify our voice.
• New Leadership: Bringing in leaders in the off-road space as ORBA charts its next
chapter.

We’re excited to welcome Sean P. Holman (Interim Executive Director) and
Laura Butcher (Legislative Director) to the team!

As our leadership puts it: “The future of off-road access depends on strong coalitions and
coordinated action. We are always stronger together.”

Not all offroad warriors wear helmets...some carry permits, spreadsheets, and the weight of keeping races alive. Laura Butcher shares what it really takes behind the scenes. Ever wonder why permits matter? Or how races actually happen? Laura pulls the curtain back on land use, advocacy, and resilience. 💪 Watch now!!

“What I loved most about this conversation is her honesty…about how hard race promotion really is, about making unpopular decisions, and about always choosing facts over feelings. Laura reminds us that leadership isn’t loud, it’s consistent. This episode is a masterclass in resilience, preparation, and doing the right thing even when it’s difficult.” ~ Charlene

Good things are coming for Lyon County!

Nevada’s history runs deep in our veins. The future, however, must remain firmly in our hands.

Micah Triplett is officially running for Lyon County Commissioner, District 5.

Visit: micahtriplett.com

My priorities for a stronger Lyon County:

• Controlled and responsible growth that safeguards our rural character, water resources, and quality of life while inviting sustainable opportunities county-wide.
• Economic diversification anchored in agriculture and mining as foundational industries, while pursuing quality jobs in industry, tourism, and innovation without compromising our core strengths.
• Robust protection for agriculture and mining to preserve jobs, heritage, and long-term community stability throughout Lyon County.
• Expanded youth recreation and opportunities by investing in parks, sports programs, trails, 4-H growth, and community activities to engage our kids and encourage them to build their futures here.
• Enhanced public safety and infrastructure improvements to support families and enable balanced, county-wide progress.
• Active listening through regular town halls and transparent communication to elevate voices from every corner of Lyon County.
• Fostering reciprocal pride and a sense of stewardship across all our communities.

Why I’m qualified:

• Multi-generational Nevadan and lifelong Lyon County resident, deeply connected to our shared history, values, and rural way of life.
• Degree in Fire Science and Administration, delivering specialized expertise in emergency services leadership, operations, and public safety management to advocate effectively for strong fire/EMS services and preparedness county-wide.
• Completing undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics this May with honors from Alpha Chi, providing strong skills in fiscal responsibility, economic analysis, budgeting, and strategic growth for transparent and resident-first county decisions.
• Nearly 18 years serving as a professional Firefighter/EMT/Hazardous Materials Technician across Northern Nevada, (including ranks of Captain, Engine Operator and Firefighter-Medic roles), plus volunteer, paid reserve firefighter positions. I further served as an adjunct instructor for the Nevada State Fire Marshal, offering proven hands-on knowledge in Hazardous Materials emergency response.
• Leader in local business promotion, and event planning through roles in the Yerington Chamber of Commerce (Board member, Vice President, and President), supporting economic development and job creation.
• Consistent engagement with Lyon County Commission meetings to stay fully informed on county-wide issues, policies, and resident priorities.
• Developer of the upcoming “TownY” app (“Wherever, Whenever, Always Local”), created to connect residents, strengthen small businesses, and increase community participation throughout Lyon County.
• Board member for Farmy’s Off-Road Park (Farmy Inc.), helping develop a safe, family-oriented OHV recreation area to boost outdoor tourism, youth engagement, and events that serve the entire county.
• Board member for Rural Nevada Counseling, advancing access to outpatient mental health and substance use treatment services across Lyon County, addressing rural family and community health needs.
• Family man raising children in Lyon County, fully committed to youth programs, education, and local recreation so the next generation thrives right here.

We’re building a website, launching social media, and scheduling meetings across Lyon County. When these are live, please reach out! Let’s discuss how to balance thoughtful progress with preserving what makes Lyon County special for generations to come.

We’ve had such a great outpouring of support since our post earlier this afternoon that we created a donate button for those who have asked how they can help.

Community support plays an important role in moving Farmy’s Off-Road Park forward, and we’re grateful for everyone who’s reached out with encouragement and interest.
