National Commander Dan K. Wiley: I am issuing a call to action in these final 100 days: Let’s hit $150,000 in donations to the Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF) through the USA 250 Challenge. Currently, we have recorded around $60,000 but I know that American Legion Family members can meet or exceed any challenge.

There is a strange beauty in surviving what was meant to destroy you.

Not because the pain was small…
but because it was real—and you stood through it anyway.

Our veterans know this truth.
They’ve faced moments that test the human spirit—
seen things, carried burdens, and walked roads most will never understand.

And yet… they are still here.

Still standing.
Still fighting.
Still choosing to serve others.

That’s the beauty.

Not perfection.
Not the absence of scars.
But the strength to keep going—
and the courage to turn that pain into purpose.

Heavy heart today.
Past Department Commander and Past National Executive Committeeman Dave Hodgeboom has transferred to Post Everlasting.

A life of service. A legacy of leadership. A brotherhood that never fades.

Rest easy, my friend… we have the watch from here. 🇺🇸

We send up prayers of comfort for Rose and family during this tough time.

HUGE news: American Legion Post 416 Legionnaire and retired U.S. Navy Capt. Royce Williams will receive the Medal of Honor!
On Nov. 18, 1952, Williams and three other Navy pilots encountered seven Russian MiGs. Williams, flying an F9F-5 Panther, shot down four MiG-15s in 35 minutes, a feat never achieved previously or since. Most dogfights last about five minutes. “It was an eternity,” Williams said in the 2017 interview.
