317 Main Community Music Center

317 Main Community Music Center A space where self-confidence grows, friendships form, communities find connection, and where music serves as a bridge between generations and cultures.

317 Main Street Community Music Center offers a wide variety of music programs and services in a community setting to make music as widely available to as many people as possible. We offer private and semi-private lessons for 18+ instruments and voice: guitar, dobro, banjo, mandolin, bass, flute, fiddle, cello, drums, saxaphone, and much more. Our students range in age from birth-101. Lessons and

ensembles are available in-person or online via Zoom.

317 also offers ensembles and classes designed for the smallest musicians (Little Roots) to musicians looking to finally learn how to play (Deep Roots) and everything in between. Financial aid is available! Fox & The Fiddle, our onsite cafe, is open Monday through Friday 8:00am-8:00pm

Come down to 317 this Saturday at 11am, cause this one’s built for kids AND their grownups!

Tiny Disco is a joyful, high-energy dance party designed for the kiddos and the families who love them. We’ll fill Founders Hall with great music—the kind adults actually want to hear without any awkward car-ride explanations—plus playful lights and just enough organized chaos to make it feel like a real night out, just earlier in the day.

Teaching artists Emma Wiegand and Miranda MacDonald will keep things flowing and fun, with light-touch activities like floating scarves and parachutes—but at its core, this is a wide-open dance floor where moving your body is what it’s all about.

One ticket covers the whole crew: $20 per family.

We’re getting ready for one of the most rewarding nights of the year. It’s an evening when we come together to ensure everyone has a place to be themselves, expand their world, and deepen their community. 317 is such a unique place, for the families, teens, adults, bands, educators, and audiences who call it home—and we want more people to discover the magic. Help us keep it strong by coming out, letting loose, laughing, dancing, and remembering what real community can do in these times of need. Tickets are available on our website, and we hope to see you there!

We’ve got a really fun stretch coming up at 317.

Family Dance is this Sunday, April 12. Live music and lots of movement, with kids, parents, and neighbors just having a good time together.

Student Showcase: Rock & Blues is on April 14. Our students, bands, and ensembles have been putting in the work and it’s always a blast to hear it come together on stage.

And Kids Night Out debuts on April 17. Music, games, dinner for the kids courtesy Brickyard Hollow Brewing Co., and a night off for you! 😉

We’re going to postpone tomorrow’s Family Dance.

The forecast is calling for a mix of snow and rain right around the time folks would be heading in and out, and it’s just not worth the uncertainty for families traveling with kids.

We’re already working on a new date and will follow up later this week with an update.

A fun article in the about the new table in our café—but it’s really something much more than that.

Built by Hans Underdahl over four years, this piece carries the history of 317 in a very real way. The top is made from the 1855 barn that once stood here. The legs come from Herbie, Yarmouth’s beloved elm. Every inch of it was shaped with care, intention, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Hans created it to honor John Williams, our former Executive Director, who retired in 2024. But what’s most meaningful is what’s happening now.

Students doing homework. Families gathering between lessons. Hands tapping on it at Open Mic night. People connecting…and that’s the point.

Thank you, Hans—for your craftsmanship, your patience, and the spirit you’ve quite literally built into this space.
