We got a little (and we do mean a little) rain yesterday in some areas, we did not get enough. Its still hot, still dry, still Texas in the summer time. The burn ban is still in effect until further notice.

🚨 Just as a reminder Wood County still has a burn ban in effect 🚨

The Wood County Commissioners Court has officially issued an order prohibiting outdoor burning due to ongoing drought conditions and the increased risk of wildfire which you can view below.

Please help us protect our community, our neighbors, and our firefighters by following the burn ban restrictions. Outdoor burning, including burn barrels, fire pits, campfires, and other combustible materials, is prohibited.

We know this can be inconvenient, but it only takes one spark to start a wildfire—especially in these dry conditions.

🔥 Please do your part:
• Do not burn trash or brush
• Avoid using fire pits or burn barrels
• Be extremely cautious with anything that could create sparks
• Follow all restrictions outlined in the official order

We had our push in ceremony on Saturday for our new tender truck that is now in service. The wonderful Brandon Kruger came and took pictures for us! We are eternally grateful for his wonderful eye and attention to detail with these! We were going to pick our favorites and share those but all of these are so good they are all our favorites! Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday either to the BBQ plate or to the ceremony itself.

🚑🚒 Ever wonder why a fire truck shows up when you called 911 for an ambulance?

At our department, the answer is pretty simple: more help.

Most ambulances are staffed with two people. When an engine responds alongside the ambulance, it can bring an additional 3 or 4 trained responders. Many of our firefighters are also paramedics or medically trained, meaning that when the fire truck arrives, we're not just sending a big red truck full of people to stand around—we're turning a two-person ambulance crew into a team of 5 or 6 people ready to help.

Sometimes, the fire engine is actually closer and can arrive first. Our engines carry much of the same lifesaving medical equipment, and the firefighters riding them have medical and ambulance experience. That means they can begin assessing and treating a patient before the ambulance even arrives.

Other times, it's simply about having enough hands.

On a serious breathing emergency, cardiac call, or major trauma, there can be a lot happening all at once. One person may be assessing the patient while another is placing them on a monitor, starting an IV, preparing medications, gathering important information from family, or helping plan the safest way to move the patient.

And sometimes... we just need a little extra muscle. 💪 Getting a sick or injured person safely out of a difficult location—like an upstairs bedroom—isn't always a two-person job.

If we arrive and determine the patient doesn't need everyone there, that's okay too. The ambulance crew can release the engine, and those firefighters go right back into service and remain available for the next emergency.

Every department operates a little differently, but at our department, an engine and an ambulance are often dispatched to medical emergencies so that once we arrive, we can quickly determine exactly what resources are needed.

So if you call 911 for an ambulance and a fire truck shows up too, dispatch probably didn't misunderstand you.

Because when you call for help, we want to make sure enough of it arrives. ❤️

This morning, we received a call to bring our drone operator out to assist Hainesville VFD. Of course, we were happy to load up and head that way!

Using the drone from above, we were able to assist crews by measuring the size and spread of the fire while also helping keep an eye on the firefighters working on the ground for added safety.

We’re always proud to work alongside our neighboring departments and lend a hand whenever we can. That’s what the fire service and community are all about working together and looking out for one another. 🚒🔥
