UPDATE: Home FOUND! Thank you so much!
Meet Rooster. Rooster first came to us from Riverside Park after convincing a concerned park walker that he was desperately in need of rescue.
Spoiler alert: he was not.
We vaccinated him. We neutered him. We microchipped him. We gave him a comfy place to stay. In return, Rooster decided shelter life wasn't really his thing. So off to foster care he went.
There, he spent his days crying at the door, plotting escape routes, and making it very clear that indoor living was beneath him. We found him an adopter. Unfortunately, Rooster was returned after he became increasingly unhappy about not being allowed outside.
So we made a decision. We ear-tipped him and returned him to Riverside Park.
He rolls in the grass. He greets anyone willing to stop and say hello. He soaks up attention from strangers. And every now and then, he manages to convince someone that he needs to be rescued all over again.
He does not. Well, mostly.
Today, Rooster is back at Heartland Humane Society after spending another month in a home where he once again decided that outdoor access was non-negotiable.
So, Yankton, what do you want us to do with this handsome troublemaker? Anyone looking for a barn cat, garage cat, shop cat, acreage cat, or mostly-outdoor companion. He's sweet. He's social. He's handsome. He loves people.
He just prefers the great outdoors.
If you have a safe place where Rooster can be himself, give us a call. We suspect he'd be happy to supervise your property, greet your visitors, and occasionally convince them he's in desperate need of saving.
