I’m sure many of you are waiting to hear how Daisy and I did this weekend. Let me begin by saying how incredibly proud I am of her! She tried so hard for me and did wonderfully! She out did my expectations for her. Two nights before the show I had to bathe her in the cold, rain, and the wind and she was such a great sport for that. She was quiet and relaxed in her stall at the fairgrounds the whole time and got to meet many new people. She’s never seen so many people in one place at a time so it was a bit nerve racking for her but she did her best and overcame most of her nerves with some help from me. Come the morning of the show I rode her early in the morning and she was better than I could’ve hoped for! I was hoping that was going to be a good indication for how she was going to be the rest of the day and it was! We started with our showmanship class and she did great! Due to lack of sight in the back of her right eye, the judge spooked her but she said she wasn’t going to dock us down for it. After that she was a bit spaced so in turn didn’t stick all of her haunch turn but overall did wonderfully! Then we did our body conditioning class and waited for about and hour or more outside of the pen. With that and being in a new location she was a bit antsy and nervous but did well. Finally we got to go into our trail class. We were the very last pair that got to show in trail. She was so wonderful! She didn’t allow me to grab the bag with cans and bottles in it from on her back but she did everything well. Come time for awards we received 3rd place in trail, 2nd in body conditioning, and 1st in showmanship. Overall we received 2nd place! I am soooo proud of her and so happy we got to end our journey this way. She then was bought by a family that will take great care of her and she seems to be happy and settling in well. The lady that bought her also bought another teens riding horse and they’re getting along well. I couldn’t be more happy with how this weekend turned out! I will post videos of showmanship and trail next!
