Yakima Fly Fishers Association-TU Chapter 094

Yakima Fly Fishers Association-TU Chapter 094 Yakima Fly Fishers Association is a Trout Unlimited Chapter. We exist to promote the sport of fly fishing for all members of our community.

The mission of Trout Unlimited is to conserve, protect, and restore North America's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. The Yakima Fly Fishers Association is a not for profit group of local Yakima area fly fishermen and women. We also advocate for education, conservation and habitat rehabilitation for the sport of fly fishing in our area. We strive to bring together men, women, children, fam

ilies and friends who all share the same love and passion for the great sport of fly fishing and to help with the conservation and maintenance of our central Washington lakes, streams and rivers.

A major milestone for sure!!

On behalf of Yakama Nation Fisheries, the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, WallaWallaUSACE, and Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group, we are honored to extend a special invitation for you to join us at a historic celebration: “The Reconnection of Chamna: Healing the Yakima River Delta."

The event will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Columbia Park West in Richland, WA. We will be located across from the REACH Museum at 1943 Columbia Park Trail, Richland, WA 99352.

This public event marks a major milestone for the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation and Yakima Basin Integrated Plan: the transformation of the Bateman Island causeway. With the causeway removed, it will restore natural river function and improve aquatic habitat for salmon, steelhead, and lamprey. This project is a critical step in returning the lower Yakima River and its confluence to a healthier, more natural state.

The event will feature leadership speakers as well as a traditional salmon bake luncheon.

We hope you will join us for this meaningful moment as we honor the collective work and vision that made this restoration possible. 😃 🤝 🤝 🥳

In honor of Earth Day coming up on the 22nd, both Yakima chapters teamed up on our “Adopt A Stream” section of Wilson Creek in Ellensburg on Sunday.

Emerson with MCF weighed our combined big bag out at 23 lbs of trash! “Which she said is pretty incredible considering how most of what we picked up were small pieces of plastic bags and such”.

Strangest thing found was not on the ground, but in the creek. Any guess on what it is? 😳

We had a blast on Saturday at the Greenway Kids Fish-In. We got to talk with kids and show them pictures of what kinds of fish they would be catching. And then they got to have a hands-on experience with some of the animals they will find in the outdoors. The beaver hide was the most mistaken guess that kids and adults kept thinking was a grizzly bear. We also got to teach about the aquatic bugs that fish feed off of in their natural habitat. And compare them to some of the flys we tie to imitate them and catch fish with. Along with the materials/feathers that we use to tie them. Not only fascinating to the kids, but adults also. 🎣🐟🐛🐜🦗🦫🐰🐓🦚🦃
The biggest fish caught was 7 1/2 pounds. 😮
