A major milestone for sure!!
On behalf of Yakama Nation Fisheries, the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, WallaWallaUSACE, and Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group, we are honored to extend a special invitation for you to join us at a historic celebration: “The Reconnection of Chamna: Healing the Yakima River Delta."
The event will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Columbia Park West in Richland, WA. We will be located across from the REACH Museum at 1943 Columbia Park Trail, Richland, WA 99352.
This public event marks a major milestone for the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation and Yakima Basin Integrated Plan: the transformation of the Bateman Island causeway. With the causeway removed, it will restore natural river function and improve aquatic habitat for salmon, steelhead, and lamprey. This project is a critical step in returning the lower Yakima River and its confluence to a healthier, more natural state.
The event will feature leadership speakers as well as a traditional salmon bake luncheon.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful moment as we honor the collective work and vision that made this restoration possible. 😃 🤝 🤝 🥳
