Our team recently stepped away from our usual day-to-day activities for some team-building fun at Escape the Maddness !

From solving puzzles and cracking clues to sharing plenty of laughs, we had a blast putting our communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to the test! 🔎🗝️

A huge THANK YOU to the team at Escape the Maddness for their wonderful hospitality and for giving us the opportunity to enjoy this experience together!

We spend our days working together to support children and families, so opportunities like this are a great reminder of how important it is to connect, have fun, and strengthen the relationships within our own team. 💙

🌟A huge THANK YOU to Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences(PNWU)! 🌟

Each year, PNWU hosts its Week of Service, bringing students, faculty, and staff together to give back to local organizations. We are incredibly grateful and proud to be one of the organizations they chose to support!

Their amazing volunteers helped us tackle some much-needed organizing and cleaning in spaces we don't always get the chance to give extra attention to, including our arts and crafts area, reading space, and back storage area.

These may seem like simple tasks, but they make a big difference in helping us maintain welcoming, organized spaces for the kiddos we serve. 💙

One of our kiddos has been working hard on reading—an activity that hasn’t always been easy or enjoyable for him. Our team has been focusing not only on building his reading skills but also on his willingness to participate and how he regulates his emotions during and after reading activities.

Recently, we got to see that hard work paying off. He participated, worked through the activity, and when he was finished, he was all smiles and ready to celebrate by blowing bubbles. 🫧💙

It may seem like a small moment, but to us, it was a BIG win.

The mindset is changing. The willingness is growing. And little by little, so is his confidence.

We’re so proud of his progress and grateful for our team, who continues to meet him where he is, encourage him, and celebrate every step forward. 💙

P.S. You may notice some little bare feet in these photos! 🦶 Sometimes taking his shoes off helps him feel more comfortable and regulated. When it’s safe to do so, we’re happy to let him kick off his shoes, get comfortable, and be himself.

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing teens from Mission Nova! 💙

Over the summer, this incredible group reached out to us and asked how they could support the kiddos in our program. They spent part of their summer fundraising through bake sales, selling blueberries, and collecting donations—and recently deliver everything they worked so hard to provide!

Their thoughtful donations included tote bags they put together with sensory items and stuffed animals for our kiddos, along with Play-Doh, door and window alarms, and other helpful items for our program.

We are incredibly grateful for their generosity, hard work, and willingness to give back to their community. Of all the ways they could have spent their summer, they chose to make a difference—and we are so thankful they chose Foster First as a program to support. 💙

One of the most special parts of the work we do is getting the opportunity to watch our kiddos grow—not only in their progress, but sometimes quite literally, right before our eyes. 💙

Recently, we celebrated one last birthday and one last case time with a very special kiddo as he completes his journey with us here at Foster First.

He has been with us for several years, and during that time, we have had the privilege of watching him grow in so many ways. When he first came to us, he faced significant challenges. He struggled with elopement and behavioral challenges and was mostly nonverbal.

Today, we see a kiddo who can hold a conversation at his own pace, whose behaviors have significantly decreased, and who is preparing for one of his biggest transitions yet—moving into his soon-to-be forever home. 🏡💙

That kind of growth doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, consistency, advocacy, and a whole lot of love. We are incredibly grateful for his amazing foster mom, his team, and his service providers who have supported, encouraged, and celebrated him every step of the way.

It has truly been a privilege to cross paths with you and be a small part of your story. We hope your next chapter is filled with happiness, love, belonging, and continued growth.

If you’re thinking about becoming a foster parent, you may have heard the term “home study” and wondered what it means.

A home study is a required part of becoming a licensed foster parent. Its purpose is to help determine whether your family can provide a safe, healthy, and supportive environment a child in foster care.

During the home study, your licensor will learn more about your family, including areas such as:

❤️ Relationships and family dynamics
👨‍👩‍👧 Parenting experience
🤝 Your support system
💰 Finances and overall stability

The goal isn't to find a “perfect” family. It's about understanding your family and making sure your home is prepared to support a child or youth who needs a safe place to belong.

📚✏️ A Little Thank You to Our Amazing Donors! ❤️

The school year may already be underway, but kiddos join our program throughout the year. That’s why we like to keep school supplies on hand for those moments when a new kiddo enters our care.

From markers and highlighters to children’s scissors and everything in between, our generous donors make sure we have what we need to help a new kiddo get settled and feel ready for school.

Starting somewhere new can be a big transition. Having those simple supplies ready to go can help make that transition just a little easier. 💛
