Leadership Yakima

Leadership Yakima The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce Leadership Yakima program is designed to develop future leaders for our community.

FOR YAKIMA'S CITIZENS Leadership Yakima is a program designed to develop future leaders for our community. Participants in Leadership Yakima learn about our community, its history and its past, present and future development. The information received will enable participants to be effective leaders in the community and on the job. The Leadership Yakima program was established by the Greater Yakima

Chamber of Commerce in 1986 to offer participants the opportunity to better know their community and to offer insight into the many different organizations and agencies that need volunteers and board members. The program was also designed to teach our current and emerging leaders the knowledge and skills necessary to serve our diverse community. Since the first year in 1986, 26 classes with over 740 participants have graduated from the Leadership Yakima program. Tuition for the Class of 2014 is $825.00. Call Elizabeth Fitzgerald at 248-2021, ext. 105, for more information.

Quality of Life Day with Leadership Yakima was one for the books! 🌞 From parks, trails, arts, history, sports, recreation, and community spaces, we got a firsthand look at the incredible organizations that make the Yakima Valley such a special place to call home.

We are lucky to live in a region with amazing weather, strong community connections, and endless opportunities to learn, play, and grow. As our Leadership Yakima journey starts winding down, we’re especially grateful for the chance to spend these days learning alongside such an outstanding group of people.

Yakima truly has so much to offer. 💙

Throwback to a few weeks ago when we spent a full and inspiring day learning all about our local communities, government, and law & justice systems.

There was so much for the class to take in and learn from throughout the day. The group got a closer look at the history of local government and how it operates (many were surprised by what was learned!), heard from several elected officials, toured local police and sheriff’s departments, watched K-9 demonstrations, and wrapped up the day with a behind-the-scenes tour led by the incredible people who run one of our dispatch centers.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to teach, guide, and share insight into some of the important inner workings of our city and community.

Stay tuned for this week’s next session: Quality of Life in the Valley 📚⛳️🎭🌳⚾️

Agriculture is at the heart of our Yakima Valley community, and this month’s Leadership Yakima Agriculture Day brought that to life in the best way.

We had a full, hands-on look at the depth and diversity of our region through incredible speakers and tours with Washington Tree Fruit Association, Kershaw Fruit, John I. Haas, Good Fruit Grower, Olson Beekeeping, and S. Martinez Livestock, wrapping up the day at Treveri Cellars.

From orchards to hops, livestock to pollinators, it was a powerful reminder of the people, innovation, and hard work that sustain our local economy and way of life. A huge thank you to our partners at Washington Tree Fruit Association for coordinating such a jam-packed and meaningful day!
