Congratulations to Rosie Pandit, 2026 Young Women in Leadership Award Recipient
Rosie Pandit as the winner of this year’s Young Women in Leadership Award. Rosie is a senior at Selah High School where she is president of the Technology Student Association as well as Senior Class President and president of DECA. She is the lead drum major in the Selah Viking Band. The summer after her junior year she earned an internship with a civil engineering firm in Yakima, where she engaged in professional projects that deepened her interest in pursuing engineering at the collegiate level.
Selah High School does not offer the AP Calculus program, so Rosie created her own curriculum, developed a study plan, set goals, sought out online resources, read textbooks and worked through hundreds and hundreds of practice problems. She traveled to another school to take the AP exam and passed it. Rosie is the first student liaison and volunteer board member of the Selah Downtown Association where she worked alongside of the mayor and observed how local decisions shaped residents’ daily lives. She also was a student journalist for the Yakima Herald, publishing 65 articles.
Rosie is the daughter of Shubha and Laxmi Pandit. She will be attending Harvard University, majoring in Environmental Engineering and minoring in Women and Gender Studies.
