Northwest Harvest Northwest Harvest Yakima Distribution Center serves more than 65 hunger relief programs and 13 schools in 9 counties in Central Washington.

Northwest Harvest serves more than 65 partner food banks and meal programs in 9 counties in Central Washington, as well as 13 schools for a weekend meal backpack program. 11 in Yakima County and 3 in Grant County. In addition to securing local produce from growers, we bring staples such as rice beans, pasta, dairy products and proteins into the region to make sure families are provided well-rounded, nutritious meals. Our partnerships in Central Washington date back to our beginnings in 1967. By providing transportation to move bulk shipments, obtaining volunteers for repacking efforts, and responding quickly to growers, we are able to reduce waste, save our agricultural partners money, and feed communities with food that might otherwise end up in a landfill.

What does food mean to you?

We're creating a new mural at S**O Community Market inspired by artist .doodles's Food is Love, which explores how food connects us to our families, cultures, and communities--and we’d love your input!

sam's work highlights his grandmother’s words at mealtime: “Eat up!”

Help shape this community mural by sharing your own favorite food words, phrases, and stories. Submit our survey by August 23! (Translations available within form.)
