The Yakima Training Center Fire Department will soon be advertising firefighter vacancies on USAJOBS and is seeking professional, motivated candidates to join their organization.

Please consider creating (or updating) your resume and USAJOBS profile to ensure a seamless application process. Positions will be advertised as GS-04/05/06/07 contingent on certifications, time in grade and specialized experience.

So it begins. Yesterday Your Selah Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on Sage Trail Rd in East Selah. With the help of our mutual aid partners, Gleed Fire Department, Naches Fire Department, Federal Firefighters of Yakima IAFF Local F-295, Washington State Department of Natural Resources we were able to stop the fire without any loss of structure and no injury to firefighters or home/property owners. Thank you to all involved.

Also just a reminder that when we have a fire, it is not a good time to go take a drive in that area. We know people are curious, but when people drive close to fire scenes it can impede firefighting operations and put everyone at risk of injury.

We would like to wish a happy 320th birthday to Benjamin Franklin.

In 1736, he help found in the American Colonies the first volunteer firefighting force known as the Union Fire Company. This was after a significant fire happened in the city and a lack of organized fire protection was noticed.

Members of Federal Firefighters of Yakima IAFF Local F-295 and the U.S. Army Air Ambulance Detachment assisted East Valley Fire Department yesterday with water rescue operations due to the current flooding. Multiple agencies across worked across Yakima County yesterday to aid in the rescue of those trapped by flood waters.
