RICHMOND HILL PROGRAM:
JUSTICE RICHMOND PEARSON’S SECOND WIFE

The life and times of Mary Louise McDowell Bynum Pearson (1818-1886), second wife of North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Richmond Mumford Pearson (1805-1878), will be presented by Anna Shelton Black on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at the Historic Richmond Hill Law School (4641 Law School Road, East Bend, NC 27018).

During her presentation, Ms. Black will dress as Mrs. Pearson, as she remembers Mrs. Pearson’s life and times.

In 2021 at the Historic Richmond Hill Law School, Ms. Black also portrayed Margaret Williams Pearson (1814-1855), first wife of Justice Pearson.

Ms. Black’s presentation is part of the July General Meeting of the Yadkin County Historical Society. The Society, through the leadership of the late Jimmie R. Hutchens, was instrumental in saving Richmond Hill and restoring it as one of Yadkin County’s premier historic buildings, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building and grounds are now maintained by the Historic Richmond Hill Law School Commission.

This program is one of a series of lectures about Richmond Mumford Pearson, His Life and Times, presented by the Historic Richmond Hill Law School Commission and the Yadkin County Historical Society. The program is free and open to anyone who is interested.
