Xenia Professional Firefighters Local 698

Last Thursday was our Local 698 Golf Outing. We had a great turnout, and want to thank everyone who came out and helped make the day such a success. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

A special thank-you to Blayne Dudley for putting everything together and making the outing possible, and to all of our volunteers who gave their time and helped things run smoothly.

We’d also like to thank our sponsors and Locust Hills for hosting us and providing a great venue for the day.

We appreciate everyone who participated and helped make this event one to remember. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

We are very proud of the work our members do everyday and are thrilled to see this program get started.

Equipment and supplies for the program were purchased using a memorial donation from the family of the late Xenia Fire Division Firefighter Steve Helling.

Last week President O’Malley had the honor of awarding the 2026 Steve Helling Memorial Scholarship to Trey Greene.

“On behalf of Xenia Professional Firefighters Local 698, we are proud to award the Steve Helling Memorial Scholarship to Trey Greene. This scholarship recognizes students dedicated to serving others through careers in fire and EMS sciences — values that Steve Helling exemplified throughout his life and service. Trey’s commitment, work ethic, and passion for helping his community make him a deserving recipient of this honor. Congratulations, Trey, and we wish you continued success as you pursue your future in the fire and EMS profession.”

Five years ago today Local 698 said goodbye to a great brother, father and friend Steve Helling. Steve mentored many of our members, and while our hearts continue to miss Steve we pass on the lessons he taught us and continue to answer the call.
