Kindness is always in season—even spooky season!

You don’t need magic or a little Halloween mischief to make someone’s day! A friendly smile, a thoughtful gesture, or a helping hand can go a long way in making others feel valued and included.

At Toward Independence, we believe kindness is something worth sharing all year long. Let’s spread a little extra warmth this spooky season!

Big news for Independence Park!

We're one step closer to bringing our vision to life, thanks to a generous **$20,000 grant from the Fred & Alice Wallace Charitable Memorial Foundation!**

Every step forward brings us closer to creating a space where people of all abilities can come together, play, and feel included.

Thank you for believing in this project and helping make it possible!

A day at Blooms & Berries Pumpkin Patch was the perfect way to enjoy the fall season and make lasting memories. Everyone had a wonderful time being outdoors, taking in the autumn atmosphere, and sharing in the simple joys of a community outing.

We love creating opportunities for the people we support to try new things, connect with their community, and enjoy meaningful experiences together.

Just as every autumn leaf has its own place in the bigger picture, every person brings something unique and meaningful to the world around them.

At Toward Independence, our Direct Support Professionals help nurture that potential every day because this work is about more than a job title. It’s about the connections we build, the lives we touch, and the little moments that make a lasting difference.

Fall is all about the little things we look forward to each year. We love hearing about the season's traditions, activities, and treats our community enjoys.

What's your favorite?

Pumpkin spice or apple c***r?
Hayrides or haunted houses?
Apple picking or pumpkin picking?

There's no wrong answer. Fall has plenty of good choices! Share your favorite in the comments and see which ones we have in common at Toward Independence.

This last Saturday, our Board of Directors met for our annual board retreat. We greatly appreciate our volunteer board for dedicating their time and insight on a Saturday for 6 hours to help us guide our agency and set our agency's vision.

Our board discussed trends and impacts in our field, things happening locally in Ohio, as well as federal and national influences. We celebrated our past progress and discussed goals and plans for 2027. We also reviewed how TI is doing in hiring, retaining our employees, and had great engagement on strategic questions about the future of TI and how we can continue to provide the best quality of supports to the people we serve and our employees.

We are so proud of our Board of Directors and the diverse perspectives, expertise, and passion they bring to our mission. Their commitment and dedication play an important role in shaping the future of Toward Independence.

Thank you to our board members for your continued support and commitment! We're excited for the rest of 2026 and all that 2027 has in store!
