NCDXF Press Release

NCDXF is pleased to announce a $145,000 grant to the VP8SG DXpedition scheduled for March 2027.

https://www.ardxpeditions.com/dxpeditions/vp0sg

The VP8SG team is perfectly aligned with NCDXF’s vision of cultivating the next generation of DXers by including several young amateur radio operators on their team. This initiative builds on the momentum of our youth engagement efforts and is structured to provide hands-on mentoring in a challenging DXpedition environment. These young operators will be integrated into the full cycle of planning, operating, and reporting, giving them both technical exposure and personal growth in the true spirit of amateur radio.

The mission of NCDXF is to provide necessary financial support for well-organized DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities and to support advances in DXpeditioning skills, technology, and infrastructure. Those funds come from the contributions of our supporters in the DX community. Your contribution will help make DX happen. Visit our website:

NCDXF Awards Grant to VK9XY Christmas Island Youth DXpedition – November 2026

The Northern California DX Foundation (NCDXF) is excited to announce a grant supporting the upcoming VK9XY Youth DXpedition, scheduled for November 2026 by the Pacific Islands DXpedition Group (PIDXG). In addition to eight youth operators from the United States, Lithuania, Japan, Hungary, and Malawi on the island, the DXpedition team will include 30-40 remote youth operators from around the world utilizing two NexGenRiB2 stations funded by NCDXF.

Max Freedman, N4ML, age 22 leads the team while veteran DXpeditioners Gregg Marco, W6IZT, and Glenn Johnson, W0GJ, will be there strictly to advise and mentor. In partnership with YOTA (Youth on the Air), PIDXG is dedicated to giving young hams the opportunity for planning and executing real DXpeditions and then getting out of their way. Their website says it this way: “The leaders who will run tomorrow’s DXpeditions are our young hams today.” https://vk9xy2026.com

The mission of NCDXF is to provide financial support for well-organized DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities and to advance DXpeditioning skills, technology, and infrastructure. These efforts are made possible by contributions from supporters in the DX community.

We look forward to a successful DXpedition and appreciate the continued support from the DX community.

NCDXF is pleased to announce a $10,000 grant to Youth on the Air (YOTA) Camp 2026.

Neil Rapp, WB9VPG, Camp Director, requested our renewed support this year and with the inclusion of DXing in the
camp program we believe the camp aligns with our youth initiative.

Take a look at the YOTA website for further information on this organization. You can see that they have a team of young people that you may have already worked in a DXpedition or a contest. Additional donations are encouraged.

NCDXF is interested in supporting the next generation of DXers and DXpeditioners. Accordingly, we will consider grant requests to assist with the costs for youth operators to participate in future DXpeditions.

The mission of NCDXF is to provide necessary financial support for well-organized DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities and to support advances in DXpeditioning skills, technology, and infrastructure.
