Salt & Light Wythe Co. is honored to be helping lead efforts for the future splash pad coming to Wytheville. Behind the scenes, we’re continuing to work through grants, partnerships, planning, and funding opportunities to help bring this community project to life.

Momentum is building, progress is happening every day, and it’s exciting to watch the vision continue coming together step by step.

Summer is right around the corner, and many of you have asked about the splash pad 💦

We’re officially over halfway there!

We’ve partnered with the Town of Wytheville and, this year, we’re focused on securing the remaining funding to help offset the taxpayer cost and bring this vision fully to life.

$2.8 million project.
$1.4+ million already secured.

What once felt like just an idea is now becoming reality—for our kids, our families, and our entire community ❤️

The Community Baby Shower for foster families was a beautiful reminder this week that “It Takes a Village.”

Seeing DSS workers wearing shirts that said Foster Wythe Us captured the heart behind it all. Wythe County is currently facing the highest number of foster children we’ve had, and many of our local kids are being placed across the state because of the need.

This event was about more than supplies—it was about showing these children and the families caring for them that they are supported by their community. If you’ve ever felt led to foster, or even think you may be interested, this is a great time to explore it. The DSS team is incredibly helpful and would love to answer questions, share information, and walk with you through the process.

These are children from our own community who need safe, loving homes and people willing to step in. It really does take a village—and there’s room for more people in ours.

Special shoutout to one of Salt and Light’s biggest supporters, Candice Johnson. This photo was taken on Sunday at the Community Baby Shower, and it means a lot to have her there with us. She has always shown up in big ways and continues to support the work we do.

We first met Candice several years ago when we shared our splash pad dream with her, and from the very beginning she has never wavered in her support. We love her heart for our community, her faith, and her love for children and families. Her heart aligns so well with our mission, and that has made for an easy and meaningful friendship.

We’re so thankful for her continued support and the way she keeps showing up for our community.

What an incredible turnout for our Community Baby Shower! We were truly blown away by the generosity and support from our community. Thank you, Wythe County, for showing up in such a big way.

A special thank you to Open Door Cafe and the Wythe County Department of Social Services for partnering with us and helping make this event possible.

We received enough donations to fill an entire room, plus over $500 in monetary donations. What a blessing! Every item and every dollar will go toward supporting foster families and children in our county.

Thank you all for helping make this so special!
