We wanted to take a moment to highlight a few special partnerships and personally thank our community partners for their generosity and support.

In May, First United Methodist Church in Marion organized a cleaning supply drive, donating mops, buckets, brooms, multipurpose cleaner, laundry supplies, dish soap, wipes, and trash bags.

We also want to recognize Young’s Chapel Baptist Church in Mouth of Wilson for donating 60 hygiene kits for men, women, and children — 20 each. These kits included water bottles, shampoo, body wash, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, wipes, and hand sanitizer.

We are so grateful for these caring partners who help us serve our community with dignity and compassion. Thank you!

Thursday we celebrated the ribbon cutting of our 5th and Lexington quadplex.

This Quadplex is the third completed of four quadplexes being built in partnership with Mount Rogers Community Services , and was funded by a grant from the Opioid Abatement Authority. These properties will provide sustainable and stable housing to those who are in recovery from Substance Use Disorders as they pursue long term recovery. Providing housing to our most critical needs populations in our community is a major focus and mission at Open Door Community. Together, with our valued partners and community support, we work to provide housing, stability, and hope to these populations.

All units are currently leased at this time.

Today, we’re celebrating two amazing team members who began their journey at Open Door on the same day. 🎉

Faye, our Accounting Assistant (not pictured), and Kara, our Property Manager, are both celebrating 3 years with Open Door today. We are so grateful for their dedication, hard work, and the care they bring to our mission each day. Thank you both for the many ways you help make Open Door stronger!

This month, we’re celebrating not one, but TWO incredible directors at Open Door! 🎉

Andrea, our Director of Client Services, is celebrating 35 years of service. Andrea served with Mountain CAP for many years before joining Open Door during the merger, and her dedication has made a lasting impact.

We’re also celebrating Mike, our Director of Food Services and Vice President, who marked 11 years at Open Door Cafe.

Both of you set a powerful example of what it means to serve your community with heart. Your hard work, commitment, and compassion do not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for all you do. 💙

Volunteers are the heart of Open Door Cafe, and we are in need of more helping hands!

Our café is more than just a place to eat, it’s a space where community comes together, and we can’t do it without amazing volunteers. Whether you have a few hours a week or just want to help occasionally, your time can make a real difference.

Volunteers can assist with things like meal prep, serving, cleaning, and gardening. No special experience is needed, just a willing heart and a positive attitude.
