Storytime Update for Fort Chiswell Public Library!
Due to more inclement weather and cold temperatures in the coming days, Fort Chiswell Public Libraries’ Dolly Parton’s Storytime has been postponed.

We’re proud to partner with Wythe Grayson Regional Library to promote Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for the littles of Wythe County. Come for toddler/preschool story hour and stay for a fundraiser for the WCPS Foundation for Excellence, the local affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We’ll host a “Decorate Your Own Cupcake” fundraiser to celebrate Dolly’s birthday! See you there.

Mrs. Hamm’s FCMS 6th Grade History classes presented their “Living Wax Museum” projects on Thursday, December 18th in the middle school gym. Mrs. Hamm applied and was awarded a Fall 25-26 School Classroom Grant. She purchased display stands so students could make a poster about their historical figure they researched and pretended to be. Thanks to the Wythe Bland Foundation for helping fund projects like these throughout the school year for many teachers!

Blown away by how our community partners showed up for our students last week as they learned about the intersection of biomedicine and rural healthcare. Thank you to Dr. Josh Stephens of Alpha Therapy for sharing your experiences in physical therapy and to Shelby Neikirk with Emory and Henry University HEALS program for giving students some great guidance on how to get class credit for healthcare classes while they’re still in high school. What an awesome opportunity for our students!

What an incredible week of learning about biomedical science with the team from CEED at Virginia Tech. Special thanks to SMMS teacher Ms. Keely Doyle for all her help this week. They prototyped and experimented with so many different designs last week, including a prosthetic leg for our furry friends. Dr. Beamer from Community Animal Clinic came to see them. Karla Yates from Wytheville Community College spoke with our students Wednesday afternoon about all the opportunities available in the nursing program, including their simulation lab. We love when our community gets involved in the great things our students do!
