Every year, the Junior League of Reading is proud to present our annual $5,000 scholarship to an outstanding young woman graduating from a Berks County high school. This award isn’t just about academic success; it is explicitly judged against a rigorous rubric that honors exceptional community spirit, exemplary leadership, and a deep commitment to volunteerism.
We want to foster the growth of local leaders who use their voices to lift others up—and our 2026 Scholarship Winner, Amy Tran, embodies that exact mission.
A recent graduate of Wilson High School, Amy has made an unforgettable footprint in our community. While balancing heavy responsibilities helping support her family’s local business, she consistently stepped up to lead:
Community Impact: As co-captain of her Mini-THON Hospitality team, she helped mobilize local businesses to raise over $100,000 in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Peer Leadership: As co-president of HOSA, she guided a team of 27 students all the way to state-level competitions.
Advocacy: Through VOiCEup Berks and the Youth Advisory Board, Amy has dedicated herself to learning how to advocate passionately for those who cannot advocate for themselves.
This fall, Amy is taking her incredible drive to the University of Pennsylvania, where she will study neuroscience on the pre-med track. Currently interning at Reading Hospital, Amy’s ultimate dream is to return home to Berks County to practice medicine as a physician—giving right back to the community that shaped her.
Amy, we are incredibly proud to support your bright future. Congratulations! 🎓🌟
