The new ASPCA compensation data has been released.

Their CEO received over $1 million in 2022. Remember this when they ask for an urgent donation or anything for that matter.

Shameful!

The ASPCA is based in New York City and is not affiliated with local SPCAs, despite the similar names. The ASPCA runs one animal shelter.

According to the ASPCA’s latest tax return:

CEO Matt Bershadker makes nearly $1 million a year–$881,785 in base salary and $108,740 in benefits. That works out to $424 an hour for his salary.

Other top executives earn huge salaries of $468,538, $420,613, and $385,415 (and more).

Overall, 259 individuals earn at least $100,000 in compensation.

The ASPCA has about $11 million offshore in the Caribbean.

The ASPCA gets a “C” grade from CharityWatch, which calculates that 42% of the ASPCA’s budget is spent on overhead.

"The results suggested that … g***d retention during the first 24 months of life—are strongly associated with lifelong avoidance of bilateral CCL rupture…Risk for CCL rupture was not influenced when g***d removal took place after the 24-month developmental period."
CCL injuries are one of the most common causes of pain and arthritis in dogs.

Do you know what a Titer Test is?

Shockingly, many pet owners have no idea!

A titer test is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pet’s blood. Basically, it’s a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet.

Why is this so important?

Because of what can happen if you over-vaccinate your pet! “Vaccinosis”, the name for the chronic disease, is caused by continued use of vaccines. These symptoms mimic the original disease in parts.

The most basic method for a titer is where your pet’s blood is drawn and sent away for testing. It ranges anywhere from $150 to $200. The most affordable method is the new “in house” testing procedure. This test is preformed at the vet clinic and it takes about 20mins to get the results. The price range is anywhere from $60 to $80!

According to truth4pets.org, “Although titer testing may cost somewhat more than vaccination in the short run, it is a bargain long term. Titers do not have to be repeated yearly or even every three years. By testing rather than vaccinating, you avoid the risk of adverse reactions from unnecessary vaccines and the accompanying cost of treatment.”

So now you know... :)

Very early this morning, Preston left this World.
If you aren't familiar with Mr. P as we used to call him: CJN saved him from being euthanized at a Columbus shelter in 2012. He was just 5 months old and both his back legs were broken. He needed a very serious and expensive surgery. Those of you with us back then, stepped up and donated for Preston of which we can never thank you enough. We were blessed to find Nate and Casey who became Preston's Dad and Mom. They literally were the BEST parents! Never did Preston want for anything, never did they hesitate giving him the best care, love and everything a dog should have. He was their World and they are devastated. We can't lie that this is also breaking our hearts too. Preston was loved beyond measure. He was one of those rare, special loves you meet by luck. Please send your prayers to his parents and younger human brother, for comfort, strength and peace. We love you Preston and do not have words profound enough to say what we feel. Thank you for touching our lives and thank you for being you. ❤️💔❤️

Please pray for Preston. Some of you may remember him. CJN rescued him years ago from a kill shelter. Preston's legs and hips were a mess and needed hip surgery. CJN got him the surgery he needed and found a foster home for him until we found the right family for him. He has been living a great life in his home, now he needs our prayers. We are awaiting test results to see what is going on with him. Please pray for him

CJN just lost it's Founder...
We adopted Tyson from The Animal Adoption Foundation. A No-Kill Shelter in June 2007. It seems like yesterday and an entirely different lifetime ago at the same time. This was divine intervention only God himself could have blessed us with this boy, our son. He taught us about Shelter dogs and helped us to self train ourselves as Dog Psychologists. He led us 6 months later to adopt our beloved and late Jazz. All of this together formed our non-profit Canine Justice Network where we have helped dogs and shelters from here to Thailand! What a legacy Tyson & Jazz gave! He taught us SO much, to try to put a small fraction here would equal a novel in and of itself. Tyson was the epitome of strength, courage, determination, love, fearlessness, goofiness and SO much more. He gave so much love and I promise you, he was and always will be loved just as much. People have said how lucky we were to have found him & Jazz. We can assure you one thing: WE were the lucky ones! WE were the blessed ones to have them in our lives. Tyson I will NEVER forget you, I will NEVER stop yearning for you. I will think of you until my last breath. The proudest I've ever been in my life was to be your & Jazz's mom. We love you our dear, handsome boy. You will NEVER be forgotten! We couldn't forget you or stop loving you if we lived a billion years...
