We teach parents around the world how to help their children to achieve their potential - physiological, physical, intellectual & social. Historically, children diagnosed with developmental delay, cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, learning problems, dyslexia, and a host of other symptomatic diagnoses have been considered hopeless. Thousands of parents have come to The Institutes to learn how to help their children at home. Those parents have proven beyond any doubt that brain-injured children are not hopeless, but instead have tremendous potential. The Institutes exists to insure that all brain-injured children have a fighting chance to be well. The objective of The Institutes is to take brain-injured children, however severely hurt, and help them to achieve normality physically, intellectually, physiologically, and socially. The majority of children achieve one of these goals, and many children achieve two of these goals. Some children achieve all of these goals, and some children achieve none of these goals. The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential serves children from all over the world. The international headquarters is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Qualified branches of The Institutes are the European Institute in Fauglia, Italy, and The Doman Kenkyusho in Tokyo and Kobe, Japan. Sweden, a country known for embracing digital technology in education, is changing its approach to classroom learning by placing greater emphasis on printed textbooks, handwriting, and physical learning materials.

After years of introducing tablets, computers, and digital resources into schools, Swedish education authorities have raised concerns about the role of excessive screen use, particularly among younger students.

The shift reflects growing attention to children's reading comprehension, concentration, and foundational literacy skills. Officials have supported greater access to physical textbooks and encouraged age-appropriate teaching methods that do not depend entirely on digital devices.

Handwriting and reading printed books can provide valuable learning experiences. Writing by hand encourages children to practice letter formation and fine motor coordination, while physical books offer opportunities for focused reading without digital notifications or distractions.

However, Sweden has not completely banned technology from schools. Digital tools remain part of education, and their benefits depend on how they are used, the child's age, and the learning activity.

The broader message is about balance rather than eliminating technology.

Sweden's changing approach highlights an important lesson for parents and educators: children need opportunities to develop strong reading, writing, and thinking skills both with and without screens.

La madre tuvo varias complicaciones durante el embarazo de Daniel y necesitó ser hospitalizada. El parto fue inducido. 🤰

Durante sus primeros años, Daniel sufrió numerosas infecciones de oído y recibió tratamiento con antibióticos. Antes de cumplir dos años, recibió varias vacunas el mismo día. Sus padres observaron un cambio importante en su comportamiento y Daniel perdió las pocas palabras que había comenzado a decir.

A los dos años, Daniel tenía poco contacto visual, no seguía instrucciones y no hablaba. Se aislaba de otros niños y era extremadamente sensible a los sonidos. Fue diagnosticado con autismo y comenzó terapia del habla.

Cuando Daniel tenía 3 años y medio, su madre asistió al curso Qué hacer por su hijo con lesión cerebral (What To Do About Your Brain-Injured Child) y comenzó un programa intensivo en casa, con la orientación de un miembro del equipo de "The Institutes." ❤️

Daniel tuvo su primera cita en The Institutes a los 7 años. ¡Había avanzado muchísimo! 🎉

Leía muy por encima del nivel esperado para su edad y resolvía operaciones matemáticas. Comprendía tanto el español como el inglés. Aquel niño callado que no hablaba ahora… ¡no paraba de hablar! 🥰

También había aprendido a andar en bicicleta y en patinete. 🚲🛴 Ahora está listo para nuevos desafíos. Está comenzando a practicar gimnasia, correr, hacer senderismo y escribir en el teclado. 💪✨
