For Women’s History Month we honor Emma Tenayuca (December 21, 1916 – July 23, 1999) A CPUSA stalwart, Tenayuca led the 1938 San Antonio pecan shellers strike. The South Texas Civil Rights Project has dedicated an annual award, The Emma Tenayuca Award, given to individuals working to protect civil rights.
