Our hearts and prayers are with the family of Officer Burks and the entire Dallas Police Department. May he rest in peace.

Officer Darron Burks, #12543 - End of Watch: August 29, 2024

Burks was shot and killed on E. Ledbetter Dr. while sitting in his squad car. As officers responded to Burks’ officer in-distress call, a man standing near the squad car opened fire, shooting one officer three times and another officer in the face.

A car chase ensued when the suspect fled, and the suspect was shot and killed when he stopped and exited his vehicle with a long gun. The three officers were transported to area hospitals, but Burks died from his injuries.

Officer Burks had served with the Dallas Police Department for eight months. He is survived by his parents.
