Today, we had the opportunity to give a presentation at the Wylie ISD monthly meeting for their amazing counselors. We shared about our weekly food outreach, Resource Center, and the Campus Compassion Initiative. With the growth in the community, as well as the rise in the cost of living, there are more families living paycheck to paycheck. The Campus Compassion Initiative is there to support the incredible work of the counselors, who are assisting students and their families. We are so thankful for our partnerships in the community, with Wylie ISD being one of the most significant.

Join us for Coffee & Coats as we collect new or gently used coats for the WISD Coat Drive to help keep students in need warm this winter.

This week we had the opportunity to be at the Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Luncheon hosted at The Cross Church. It was a great time for the local nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders to get together to network and learn about our organizations. During the luncheon the nonprofits took the time to go to different tables to connect with other members of the Chamber to discover new news to connect, collaborate, and support one another.

This week we delivered hundreds of school supplies to help the students at Community Independent School District. This is the fifth year of being able to bring needed school supplies thanks to our partnership with Wylie ISD. As well as this, Hope for the Cities works closely with the counselors and administration in Community to provide snacks for students, Food 4 Kidz (weekend food in backpacks), and the Campus Compassion Initiative (helping meet student and family needs). We are thankful for the care and compassionate staff we get to work with!

Today marked the first day of the school year where the Adulting Well team from the Wylie ISD came to help us make food boxes. They did an amazing job making sure that the boxes were ready to hold all the food that was packed later in the afternoon. We 💚having the Adulting Well come serve with us! You all make a huge difference!

This morning we had to the opportunity to be at the Wylie ISD back to School Fair at The Cross Church Event Center. We had an amazing time with lots of other organizations engaging with the hundreds of families who took part. Thanks to Joley Martin and her team of incredible volunteers to make this happen!

We’re always grateful for opportunities to serve our community, and today was a great reminder of why we love getting to be part of Wylie!
