This past weekend at The Cross Church we had the opportunity to promote our Adopt-A-Lunch program for summer lunches. $10 feeds a child for a week and $100 for all summer. Because people like you give, we are able to provide food security for kids in Collin County.

Wylie ISD Back to School Fair 2026 🎒

Wylie ISD students who qualify for nutrition services for the 2026-2027 school year are invited to receive a free backpack and school supplies at this year’s Back to School Fair.

📅 Date: August 8, 2026
⏰ Time: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
📍 Location: The Cross Church Event Center, 200 N. Ballard Ave.

Online registration opens July 22. Families must complete the 2026-2027 school registration and meal application prior to attending the event.

Community partners including Hope for the Cities will be in there as well as other local organizations providing resources, information, school physicals, dental screenings, immunizations, library cards, food assistance information, clothing resources, haircut coupons, and more for Wylie ISD families.

We had another great day packing food boxes. We were given an extra incentive to work as fast as possible with us having fajitas provided by the Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce after we finished packing. Thank you to everyone who was able to help us today, you all make such a big difference.

Over the past few months, our Executive Director, Jon Bailey, has been busy going through the training to get his Nonprofit Training Certification through the Center of Nonprofit Management. We were hosted and received a scholarship by the North Texas Food Bank. The different training sessions included nonprofit strategy, program planning, evaluation, and sustainability, legal and risk management, fundraising, performance management and evaluation, finances, and marketing and communications. We all learned a lot in these sessions, and we had the get to know one another through the process. A HUGE THANKS to the NTFB and CNM for this invaluable time!

This week, we had the pleasure of attending the Greater Wylie Resources Connection monthly meeting at the American National Bank of Texas. Ofilia Berrera from the Smith Public Library shared about all the services and opportunities they provide (if you don't have a library card for Wylie, get one now, they are free and you don't have to be a resident of Wylie to receive one).

We also got an update from Agape House & Jericho Village on their Grand Opening on June 25. Check out their page to get further information and updates.

And, Job Connection shared about their free Job Connection Series happening in partnership with Hope for the Cities and The Cross Church on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm with childcare provided.

Members of St. Vincent de Paul Society - Wylie TX and Waterbrook Bible Fellowship were also in attendance.

We had a great time packing food boxes yesterday in the warehouse. As usual, our food packing team did a great job getting the boxes packed in record time to go out to the community today. If you know of anyone who needs food, please message us, this is why we are here. It's because of our amazing volunteers who pack, organize, clean, inventory, deliver, and give financially that we can do this. Please consider being able to give of your time, talent, or treasure.
