The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has shared the following statement about the health of Pope Leo XIV:

“We express our heartfelt concern for Pope Leo XIV as he confronts health challenges and extend our sincere wishes for his comfort, strength, and a swift recovery. We join with people of faith around the world in praying that heaven will bless and sustain him during this time. May he feel the peace and healing power of our Savior, Jesus Christ.”

“For most of my teenage years, people knew me as ‘Melanie the swimmer.’

“I trained early in the morning and again after school. I competed in national championships and dreamed of moving from Argentina to another country to pursue swimming professionally. My life was built around the next practice, the next tournament, and the next goal.

“Then the pandemic stopped everything.

“When I finally returned to the pool months later, something had changed. I no longer felt the same desire to compete. I knew it was time to close that chapter, but walking away left me feeling lost.

“If I wasn’t ‘Melanie the swimmer,’ who was I?

“I prayed often and talked with people I trusted. Slowly, Jesus Christ helped me understand that swimming was something I did, but it was never the source of my worth. I was Melanie before I was a swimmer, and most importantly, I was a daughter of God.

“God loved me when I was winning races, and He still loved me when I left the pool. I didn’t need to prove my worth to Him or anyone else.

“I still love swimming, but I now know my identity is rooted in something that can’t be lost when my circumstances change. I am a daughter of God, and that will always be who I am.” —Melanie

In Episode 2 of Dedicate, they get a behind-the-scenes look at how the temple foundation has been reinforced to prepare for earthquakes. As they discover what helps support this sacred building, they also explore a powerful symbol of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone—the sure foundation of our faith.
