My Find a Darling Home partner, Judy Hatley, and I recently had the pleasure of meeting Jacob Boynton, Director of Business Development with Lily Hospice. It did not take long to see how deeply he cares about the people and families they serve.
As the Brownstown Chapter Leader for Quilts for Kids, our official chapter work focuses on making quilts for children using the sizes and guidelines required by the organization. However, people also generously donate quilts to us in many different sizes.
We believe every quilt deserves to find someone who can use it. Quilts that fall outside the children’s guidelines can still bring warmth and comfort to seniors, hospice patients, wheelchair users, and others in our community.
Judy and I were honored to pass several of these comfort quilts along to Jacob for Lily Hospice clients. Each one was made with time, care, and love, and now it will have a meaningful home.
Jacob and I also talked about creating more quilt-related events and finding additional ways to support seniors, caregivers, and families throughout Southeast Michigan. We are excited to see where this new connection leads.
If you have a completed quilt you would like to donate, quilts may be dropped off at:
🧵 Sew What! a Quilt Shop
1128 Eureka Road
Wyandotte, MI 48192
A special thank-you to the wonderful people at Sew What! for supporting this effort and allowing us to use the shop as a quilt drop-off location. Having a trusted local place where people can bring their donations helps us place more quilts with people who will truly appreciate them.
If you enjoy sewing, have a quilt to donate, or would like to learn how you can help, please send me a message.
