Waynewright Community Meals aka the Wyandotte Soup Kitchen

Waynewright Community Meals aka the Wyandotte Soup Kitchen Free Community Meals for All - Pioneering a Community of Friendship Our organization functions solely through the efforts of volunteers.

We have no paid staff, and 100% of our (limited)funding goes toward the purchase of pantry items, paper products, utilities, and other goods related to serving meals and hosting community events. Please contact us to make donation or to schedule a time when you can volunteer and put your gifts into action. We are always seeking groups to conduct canned good and paper product drives on our behalf,

and we love to think creatively about ways to get school groups, Scout groups, youth, and organizations partnering with us through on and off site activities.

As we wrap up our time at Waynewright Community Meals, I was thinking about how a friend asked me if we are still participating in Giving Tuesday or if we are still accepting donations. While we are finishing up our services in a couple weeks, we still have a number of families coming to us and seeking help, and they are very concerned about what comes next in terms of the holidays and far beyond. At this time, we would greatly appreciate your support on giving Tuesday, but we also want to just use this opportunity to thank you for the many holiday seasons where you carried us through almost two decades of service! You have given fiercely, and we are so moved by the capacity of our neighbors to be change agents in our corner of the world!

If it's in your heart to share with Waynewright this holiday season, your kindness will still be put to good works - we will direct all funds towards our operation over the next couple weeks, and any remaining funds will be dedicated to directly helping members of our community.

If you enjoyed "adopting" our guests or their families, we would be honored to connect you with families who are seeking a bit of help this season. It is has been an honor to be connected, and we hope to continue to work together in new ways.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you!

We just wanted to remind you that our free, carry out meal service will be open during the Wyandotte Street Art Fair (our meals are on Wednesday, July 10, and Saturday, July 13 from noon to one). The church sells parking spots for the fair during this time, but anyone utilizing our meal service is invited to park for FREE while you picking up a meal. Once you've picked up your meal, we ask that you please move your car from the lot so the spaces can be sold for the fundraiser. Thank you for your understanding!

Hello, friends! I know it's summer vacation, but I wanted to throw out a quick opportunity for your TEEN to get a jump on some of those community service requirements for clubs, religious education, and service groups. We have some items being delivered to Waynewright Community Meals aka the Wyandotte Soup Kitchen on Thursday, June 27, and we need some hands to basically unload a minivan a few times. All items will need to be carried into a basement, so we are looking for teens who can lug cases of donations down stairs. We would need help beginning at 1:15 until approximately 3pm. This is a job that can be accomplished with just a handful of people, but it will really make our lives easier if we get the help. Please contact me directly if you have someone who is willing (aka please don't just drop anyone off in case there are last minute changes). Thank you!

We are open today, but we are asking our guests, for your own safety, please arrive just prior to serving time. Lining up hours in advance is a risk to your health in extreme weather, and we want you to be safe! We are taking additional measures to ensure our service moves quickly, so if you need to stay in your car with AC until it's time to pop up and grab your meal, we will be watching for you. Please just be sure to come up by 1pm. Have a great day!
