My name is Allie Phillips, and in December of 2014 I lost my identical twin sister Mandie in an unfortunate automobile accident. As a tribute to her everlasting memory, Motts Channel Seafood is hosting an annual fishing tournament in her honor. The fishing tournament will be September 23-25, 2021, and will be an inshore and offshore tournament. In addition to the tournament, there will be a captai
ns meeting, cocktail party, awards dinner, and celebration with live music. Since her education meant a tremendous deal to her, all the donations from this event will be used to create the Amanda Bradley Phillips Memorial Scholarship. Mandie was a senior Political Science Major at Appalachian State University and an active member of the Chi Omega sorority. Also a minor in physics, she was a recipient of the prestigious Andy Graham memorial scholarship from the Appalachian State Department of Physics. She was a proud volunteer for former Senator Kay Hagan's 2014 senatorial campaign, and a well-known employee of Mott's Channel Seafood in Wrightsville Beach. Everyone that knew Mandie loved her wit, her humor, and her passion for living life to the fullest. She was a spark that could ignite any conversation, and inspired everyone that crossed her path. The loss of my sister has been incredibly difficult on my family. However, keeping her spirit alive is what gets my family and I through it all. Mandie once shared a quote by John Wesley that says, “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can”. We are extremely thankful to Motts Channel Seafood for creating this event, and look forward to celebrating Mandie's life by doing what she loved most - fishing.
