In September, the We the Water crews set out to complete the final leg of our paddle, understanding that at any time, the weather or water conditions could change. The final crew on the second day faced a strong SW current and winds, hindering their approach to the VA border. Due to safety, the crews and our NC WRC escorts felt it best to pause the journey.

Tomorrow, Sunday November 17th, five of those crew members will paddle the remaining miles to close the loop on an amazing adventure and cause. They will launch from Shoreline Road at Sandy Point Campground and RV Resort, and finish on the inland side in Currituck, roughly 13 miles.

We cannot appreciate enough the support our crews have been given, and we ask that you keep this crew in your thoughts as they paddle these final miles for a cause we can all get behind, clean water! You can find out more about this initiative in our bio.

What an incredible start to our We the Water journey! Day 1 is in the books, and we finished in record time! Stormy conditions, strong paddling, and amazing support from our team and the NC Coastal Federation. The energy out on the water was unreal, and it feels great knowing we’re paddling for a cause that means so much. Ready to rest up and do it all again tomorrow!
