I Am with You!

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. (Isaiah 43:2).

It requires great faith and a strong character to be able to work through adversity and disappointment. Many seemingly strong people eventually collapse under their burdens.

The Lord never promised that our lives would be trouble-free just because we choose to serve Him. But He did promise to be there for us at all times and help us over life's hurdles. Knowing that you don't have to tackle the afflictions of life on your own is a comforting and reassuring thought.

When problems mar your view and place pressure on you, turn to Christ, He is your heavenly Companion. Overcome your problems in the peace of His presence.

Thank You, omnipotent Father, that I can say with confidence that You are with me day by day. Amen.

The Reassuring Love of God

I love the Lord, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. (Psalm 116:1).

There comes a time in each of our lives when we urgently need reassurance for peace of mind and to calm our spirit.

Regardless of how self-assured you may be, there will come a time in your life when you will recognize that you have such a need. But what if there is no one to assist you in your crucial time? What are you supposed to do then?

The answer lies in today's Scripture verse. God is always there as a refuge and help in time of need. He is always there when you need Him, He always hears when you call to Him from the depths and you can be assured that He will answer you prayers.

O Lord, my God, I love You with all my heart and know that all things happen for my good because You love me. Amen.

September 3

God Remains in Control

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:17).

Sometimes it seems as if everything is going wrong. Before giving in to despondency, however, acknowledge the greatness, glory and constancy of God. He called the world into existence; He created humankind; He has kept vigil over His Creation, cared for us through the ages and sheltered us in every disaster. He is the Creator God, who will never abandon His workmanship. In His vast love, He gave His Son to this world, so that whoever believes in Him shall no perish but have everlasting life (see John 3:16).

Therefore, hold on to His promises; place your trust and faith in the living Christ, and through Him you will survive all danger and adversity.

You are eternal, Lord, and the workmanship of Your Creation bears testimony to Your great glory. The universe celebrates Your great name. Amen.

Omnipotent Protector

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. (2 Samuel 22:2-3).

When we are afflicted and needy, the love and omnipotence of God protects us. We can overcome any challenge, adversity or problem if we only steadfastly trust in His loving care and grace.

He will command His angels to watch over us and protect us from any danger. We will not be overwhelmed by evil and left powerless. The ability He gives us to choose between what is good and right and what is wrong, will help us to act wisely.

Through the love that is in our hearts, we give and receive love. Then peace and joy fill our minds and hearts, and we are assured that we have an omnipotent Protector.

Father, I bow before You in grateful humility because You have given me Your light and Your wisdom so that I can always do what is right. Amen.

September 1

Divine Protection

They remembered that God was their Rock, that God most High was their Redeemer. (Psalm 78:35).

Many times, in the history of the world, it seemed as if all was lost and all hope was gone.

Yet, God has saved people and nations from devastation in miraculous ways and has enabled them to overcome dangers and transform defeat into glorious victory.

These cases should serve as a constant reminder of the victorious omnipotence of God in all spheres of life. No circumstances are too small or too big for Him, and no prayer will remain unheard or unanswered. Only in Him will you find deliverance from your distress.

Lord my God, You are a safe fortress to me, a shield against every calamity that threatens to overwhelm me. Knowing this, I step with confidence into the unknown. Amen

Run to Jesus

When He saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36).

Jesus' compassion was a sign of His greatness, not an indication of weakness. It resided in the center of His heart and His teachings.

Scripture informs us that ordinary people like to listen to Jesus and that they took long journeys to hear Him. What Jesus told the people revealed how close He was to the Father and how compassionate He was.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by life and full of despair, remember Jesus and His loving compassion. Run to His open arms and allow Him to soothe and comfort you.

Compassionate Master, let Your love renew my life so that I may rejoice in Your love. Amen.

Be Strong

Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come." (Isaiah 35:4).

We all experience discouragement at some point in our lives. If you feel that your dreams have been shattered and your efforts have come to nothing, do not allow self-pity to sow the seed of discouragement in your spirit.

There are spiritual reserves from which you can draw that will give you hope and a sense of purpose. Do not rely on your own source of inspiration, because when these fail you will lose your vision and become discouraged.

God is your constant source of inspiration. Remember, you do not fight alone against negative feelings and emotions. God is on your side, and He is waiting to pick you up so that you may proceed with joy and ultimately triumphant.

I thank You heavenly Father, that through the power of Your residing Spirit, I can triumph over discouragement. Amen.

Caring for Others Could Cure the World

Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4).

Jesus Christ devoted His whole life to caring for others. His love for people was all embracing. This was obvious in His relationship with everyone He came across. Despite the circumstances, or regardless of them, His first thought was always for others - even when He was nailed to the cross.

Jesus commanded His followers to love one another as He loves us. It is unavoidable that this will include self-sacrifice. In our ministry of love to one another, we must show the same compassion and forgiving love that the Master has for us. Only in doing so can the wounds of this world be healed.

Holy Spirit of God, fill me with the desire and ability to love my neighbor a You love me. Amen.
