Over the past few months, IMHO USA partnered with local healthcare leaders, clinicians, and medical students to deliver vital care and advanced equipment across Sri Lanka. From hosting community screening camps in Analativu, Poonagary, Saavalkaddu, and Mathagal to advancing child nutrition through Project Amuthasurabi, these efforts brought essential preventive services to hundreds of residents. To strengthen long-term medical infrastructure, IMHO funded major equipment donations—including a $134,000 laser system for Jaffna Teaching Hospital, a $27,500 ENT microscope for Vavuniya General Hospital, and a Hoyer lift for Chankanai Base Hospital—while supporting the reopening of the JJCDR Prosthetic Centre to provide free prosthetics.

The Palliative Care Association of Sri Lanka warmly invites the public to the Professor Nagalingam Suntharalingam Memorial Oration – 2026. This year’s address, titled “Pioneering Cancer Care in the Northern Region: Early Experiences and Enduring Lessons,” will be delivered by Dr. Nadarajah Jeyakumaran, a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 3:00 PM at The Library Auditorium, University of Jaffna. All are welcome to attend this insightful session highlighting the history and lasting impacts of regional oncological services.

Mark and Donna Penney, alongside their family, friends, and the IMHO USA community, have established the Sonya Lynch (née Penney) Memorial Fund at the Centre for Handicapped in Kundasale, Kandy. This enduring endowment provides life-changing prosthesis and orthosis devices for 37 children annually, ensuring Sonya’s memory lives on through the gift of independence for generations to come.
We are deeply grateful to the Penney family and all the donors who helped make this permanent vision of care a reality. 🕊️
