🔋 Charge into Fire Safety! October 4–10 is National Fire Prevention Week 2026, and this year’s theme is critical: “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” ⚡

With lithium-ion batteries powering our daily lives—from smartphones and laptops to e-bikes and tools—knowing how to charge them safely helps protect your home and your family.

Put your superpowers to work with these essential safety tips:

🚨Use Approved Equipment: Only use manufacturer-approved cords and adapters designed for your specific device.
🚨Charging on Hard Surfaces: Keep electronics on flat, stable desks or counters. Never charge devices on beds, couches, or pillows that retain heat.
🚨Unplug When Full: Disconnect chargers and devices once they reach 100%.
🚨Watch for Warning Signs: If a battery becomes excessively hot, emits an unusual odor, swells, or smokes, stop using it immediately.
