Five Iroquois Chapter DAR members attended the unveiling of a historic marker recognizing David Williams at the Old Stone Fort in Schoharie on Sunday, August 1.

The program included a presentation by Dr. Vic DiSanto who discussed the critical role David and two other soldiers, John Paulding and Isaac Van Wart, played in the capture of British spy, Major John Andre. Pictured are Dr. Vic DiSanto and Iroquois Chapter member Bonnie Dailey who unveiled the marker from the Pomeroy Foundation. David Williams is buried at the Fort.

On Friday, July 3, chapter members Bonnie Dailey (left) and June Preston (right) staffed the registration table at the "Remember the Ladies Tea," an America 250 event sponsored by the Schoharie, Iroquois and Captain Christian Brown DAR chapters, Revolutionary Schohary 250, and the Schoharie County Historical Society. The tea was held on the grounds of historic Lasell Hall (the Schoharie chapter's home) and more than 60 people attended, enjoying two types of traditional teas and colonial era confections. A number of attendees wore period garb, while others sported patriotic red, white and blue outfits, which combined with the floral centerpieces arranged in tea pots, the informative table favors, and the many different patterns of tea cups gave the event a very festive air. The program included activities and speakers celebrating the role of locally and nationally known Revolutionary era ladies.

The chapter had it's annual booth at Worcester Days on Saturday, June 20. Members talked with the public about our chapter activities and promoted our Voices scholarship campaign. 🇺🇸Members of the Iroquois Chapter celebrating Flag Day at the Stamford Parade🇺🇸

Flag Day is observed on June 14 to commemorate the adoption of the United States flag by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day, and in 1949 President Harry S. Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 as National Flag Day.
