In 1972, Wayne County voters approved a 1.4 mill levy making way for the construction of the first adult workshop located at 266 Oldman Road, Wooster, Ohio. In November 1979, new additions were necessary to serve the growing number of adult clients. This location now provides Adult Day Support. In 1996, 100 individuals were located at an alternative location on Spruce Street in Wooster to accommod

ate work on a packing line thanks to a strong, ongoing corporate partnership with D + S Distribution. Additional work contracts from International Paper and Rubbermaid created a need for more space in 2001. Nick Amster moved to Hillcrest Drive where it could upgrade shipping and receiving facilities and have additional room to expand. All of the production services moved in 2008 to the Wooster Industrial Center on Old Mansfield Road. The new space consolidates the all the work teams in one location and provides ample space for production work. This location serves 155 individuals who chose and have the abilities to work in production. is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. In 2016, the Board began steps to privatize Nick Amster in preparation of State mandates to eliminate workshops under county Boards of Developmental Disabilities.

Omega is a beautiful Dragon Scale Betta, known for its thick, metallic, armor-like scales. ✨

By helping care for Omega, our individuals will have the opportunity to learn and practice important skills while gaining a better understanding of what it takes to care for an animal. From responsibility and routine to patience and observation, we know Omega will be an amazing addition to our group! ❤️🐟

He wanted a one-on-one outing to the OARDC in Wooster with his favorite DSP, and that’s exactly what he got! 🌸 They spent the day enjoying the beautiful gardens, taking in the sights, and truly stopping to “smell the flowers.” It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a favorite activity, spend quality time, and make some great memories!

🌟 Career Day at Nick Amster, Inc.! 🌟

We had an amazing Career Day where our individuals had the opportunity to explore different career fields and practice real-world workplace skills! 👏

Throughout the day, individuals worked on common skills needed in the restaurant, production, and customer service industries, including teamwork, communication, following directions, completing tasks, problem-solving, and more. 💼

Career Day was a great opportunity to learn, build confidence, discover new interests, and experience what it takes to be successful in the workplace. We are so proud of everyone who participated and put their skills into action!

Nick Amster, Inc. wants to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Best Western for partnering with us to provide individuals with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a real community setting!

Through this partnership, individuals are practicing and developing so many important employment skills, including following directions, communication, teamwork, customer service, time management, completing tasks independently, maintaining a professional attitude, and working as part of a team.

Most importantly, they are getting the opportunity to work side by side with Best Western employees and experience firsthand what community employment looks and feels like. These real-world experiences are invaluable in helping individuals build confidence, develop new skills, and work toward their own employment goals.

We also want to give a special THANK YOU to the Best Western staff for welcoming our individuals, supporting them, and providing such a wonderful example of what a professional employee looks like.

Tour of Krupp Moving & Storage

We had a great time touring Krupp Moving & Storage!

During the tour, we saw a large map of the United States that tracks all the locations Krupp’s trucks travel to. We also toured the warehouse, where we got to see where customers’ belongings are safely stored until they are ready to be delivered.

We learned how Krupp’s PODS work. Some customers prefer to pack and load their belongings into a POD themselves. Once the POD is loaded, Krupp picks it up and transports it to its destination.

We also learned that a special license is not required to work at Krupp. They are currently looking for people to help load and unload moving trucks, giving individuals an opportunity to learn more about employment in the moving and storage industry.
