I help women in need of recovery from substance use by teaching them how to gain coping skills that will best serve them in maintaining their sobriety long-term from substances. I provide an empathetic and empowering environment for the ladies so that they feel heard and know that they are cared for.

The communication and team work within OneEighty has been a huge factor of why I love my working at our agency. I always know that if I am unable to accomplish something, I can ask for help or guidance and not be criticized for it.

I love being able to work with the ladies in residential and help them to find that "light bulb". When I see that come on in them, I know I've done my job and that I'm here for a reason. Also being able to see ladies come back to visit us after being sober for lengths of time is extremely rewarding and reminds me of why I do this job.

Being able to flex my hours has been a huge deal for me. I have four children, three of which are very young. Knowing that my life doesn't have to revolve around my career, but I can also focus my time and energy into my family, really helps my mental health and my ability to be the mom that I want to be for my children.

Our agency is so connected into our community. This is very powerful and enlightening to know that we are working for a cause that is impacting so many people close to home.

Even if you think that this job isn't for you, give it a try. I thought my entire life that I wanted to teach elementary school. I even have my associate's in early childhood, but then realized that it was not the career for me. I never imagined myself in this career, but I am so glad that I have found it. I completely love my career, my peers, and the lives I get to impact as well as the impact it has had on me.
