Exciting News for Downtown Woonsocket!

NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley is thrilled to celebrate a $50,000 investment from Rhode Island Commerce in Merry on Main! This investment will help support over 50 small businesses during the holiday season.

As a member of the Beloved Woonsocket initiative, we were excited to join the Mayor of Woonsocket, the RI Commerce Secretary, the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, Skills for Rhode Island's Future, and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council for a walking tour and conversations with local business owners about the future of our downtown.

We look forward to helping coordinate this arts and economic development initiative, leveraging holiday tourism from the Polar Express experience to bring more visitors, activity, and economic opportunity to our local businesses.

NWBRV is recruiting 6–9 AmeriCorps volunteers for our new Community Builder in Residence program!

We’re looking for people who love to cook, garden, make things, create art, stay active, support small businesses, organize volunteers, talk about money and wealth building, make math fun...or have another skill or passion they’d love to share.

Community Builders will turn those interests into activities that give Woonsocket residents more opportunities to get out, meet their neighbors, try something new and feel connected to their community.

🏡 Optional riverfront housing available for eligible Community Builders at $625/month + utilities
⏰ 450 hours of service, averaging about 45 hours/month
🎓 $1,956.35 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion
💼 Designed to work alongside a job, school or other commitments
