CUTENESS ALERT! 😺😺😺😺

In case you were wondering, there are some VERY ADORABLE kittens at the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter who desperately want to get out of here and find a home to call their own. Being cooped up in a cage is no fun for these babies. Wow! Thank you so much!!! We have a pawesome community of pet lovers!!! This week we received 14 Kong toys from donors for our project at the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter, enabling us to add another drop-off day to our rotation. Volunteers take turns stuffing these Kong toys with peanut butter and kibble and picking up/dropping them off to the shelter. This provides enrichment for shelter dogs who spend upwards of 23.5 hours a day in their cage. Rascal, a former PCPAS resident and BRAWL top dog supervisor sends you all a big, sloppy, wet kiss for helping shelter dogs pass the time while they wait for their forever home! Happily Ever After….🐶💕

Today we want to share an uplifting story of adoption success. In May 2025, we started posting videos of adoptable animals at the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter, hoping to show the public the amazing dogs looking for forever homes.

One of the first dogs, Luna, caught the eye of Liz and Daniel. Several months later Liz wrote “It was your videos with my precious Luna that got me over to the shelter last June, and she has been the best addition to our family. We absolutely adore her”

Our hearts were full and we were so excited that our videos were making a difference!

Fast forward to March 2026, Liz and Daniel see another video, this time of a cute black and tan puppy. They can’t resist, and quickly adopt Harley. Today, Luna and Harley have become best buddies.

So if you have ever thought about adopting a shelter dog, here is your proof that second-hand dogs can become first-rate family members. We love that Liz and Daniel took a chance on these pups who are now living their happily ever after.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!! (And I'm crying happy tears right now!!!!)

There is always at least one dog at the shelter who is continually overlooked despite being friendly, affectionate, smart, and playful. Bluebell is that dog right now. We don’t know why, she is stunning with her one blue eye, and she is so grateful every time we take her out of the cage, taking treats so gently and giving us kisses. We think she’s around 2 years old, 40 lbs, and is a pit/hound mix (our best guess). Bluebell has been at the shelter since May 8th and her time is running out. Our Kong train is a huge success. Volunteers take turns preparing and dropping off stuffed Kong toys for the shelter dogs. Sometimes we freeze them so they have a cool treat and it helps the dogs pass the time while they wait for their forever home. SO MANY KITTENS !!!!! Folks, please come adopt these kittens. We might be in a drought, but the Patrick County Public Animal Shelter is raining cats and dogs!
