Royal Rangers is a mentoring program for future men. We provide Christlike character formation and servant leadership development for boys and young men in a highly relational and fun environment. THE GREAT TEMPTATION

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weal." Mark 14:38

We are tempted to be disobedient to God, especially when obedience holds negative consequences. The only way to avoid this is to have a vigilant spirit and to know God's will. The spirit of a disciple wants to obey God. It's the motivation for our whole existence!

However, the flesh wants to protect it's self at all costs, even if it means disobeying God.

Jesus says, "Don't allow the flesh to take the lead! This can happen so easily. Your salvation and blessing lie in obedience to God, not in self protection. Be mindful. There will be times and situations where you'll have to fight against it. Fight at all costs!"

Father, I want to follow in Jesus' footsteps - even when times are tough and when the prospects are bleak. Give me a watchful spirit to stay obedient to You. Amen.

DON'T BE DISCOURAGED

"Everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." Luke 11:10

In this Scripture verse Jesus is mainly referring to people in a relationship with God, but these words can also be true in other areas.

"If you're looking for trouble, you'll get it!" With these words, teachers threaten learners to try to get them to behave. We often say "he got what he deserved" when the trouble-maker receives a thrashing.

Today's Scripture verse holds a blessing and a warning. The warning is this: "You will reap what you sow. Be careful, then, how you live." As a blessing it says: "God is with you. Talk to Him, for He hears you. He wants to reveal His love to you. Don't be discouraged. Trust Him-He rewards everyone who seek Him."

Your life is already a beautiful explanation of Jesus' words as a blessing and a warning. Learn from the warning and trust in the promise.

GLORY AND TERROR

"At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory." Mark 13:26

The Second Coming is an event that all believers look forward to. It's something that Christians use to encourage each other (see 1 Thess. 4:18).

The world will not continue in this way forever. The end will come - not the end of life, but the end of injustice and evil. A final revelation is coming of Christ as Judge and King. He will give the final verdict about unrighteousness and end it once and for all.

For believers this is something to look forward to, but for the ungodly it is terrifying. The world says, "Leave us alone!" The church says, "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!" (Rev. 22:20).

"In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay" (Heb. 10:37). Be ready. "Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing" (1 Thess. 5:11).
