Fort Supply Preservation Authority - FSPA

Fort Supply Preservation Authority - FSPA Formerly a state prison, the FSPA is now a locally managed Title 60 trust. The site later housed the William S.

We are committed to creating jobs while preserving and honoring the site's rich cultural and historical legacy. The Fort Supply Preservation Authority (FSPA) is a Title 60 trust dedicated to preserving the history and cultural significance of Fort Supply, Oklahoma, while driving economic growth in the region. Established as a military outpost in 1868, Fort Supply played a crucial role in protectin

g settlers and fostering stability. Key Correctional Center, which closed in 2021, leaving behind a rich but underutilized historical site. FSPA is responsible for managing the former prison facility, with the goal of restoring the property and creating opportunities for job growth. Our efforts are focused on cleaning up environmental hazards such as asbestos and lead paint, while also restoring essential infrastructure like water, sewer, and electricity. These efforts are vital to transforming the facility into a hub for local businesses, vocational education, and tourism. As a Title 60 trust, FSPA’s beneficiaries are Woodward, Ellis, and Harper counties. Our board of trustees includes representatives from key local entities:

Woodward Industrial Foundation (Chairman)
Mental Health Hospital
Ellis County
Town of Fort Supply
HOR District 61
Friends of Historic Fort Supply
Harper County Commissioners
Fort Supply School
Senate District 27
Woodward County Commissioners
We collaborate closely with Historic Fort Supply, which is restoring the original fort structures. Meanwhile, we have preserved parts of the property by leasing agricultural land to local farmers and allowing law enforcement to use the old shooting range for training. Currently, our primary funding comes from these land leases, and we rely on donations and community support to continue our work. Volunteer programs are in development, and we invite anyone interested to reach out to our board members to get involved. FSPA’s long-term vision is to create a thriving, job-creating business hub that honors Fort Supply’s rich Pioneer, Native American, and mental health heritage. By preserving this unique site, we ensure that its legacy endures for future generations while providing new opportunities for the community today.
