This morning, members of the Woodstock Middle School's Future Earth Club, together with their advisor Ken Wolslegel, parents, and community volunteers, installed an amazing pollinator garden outside the rear entrance to the school. Plants were purchased with a grant from The Last Green Valley and also donated by Swampdog Farm Native Plants, New England Native Plant Rescue, and members of the Quiet Corner Garden Club. It looks fabulous already and we look forward to watching the garden (and the Future Earth Club) grow. Great job, especially to the students, who dug, planted, and mulched!

We would like to send a big shout out to Gary Kettle of Stump BGone and M. Provost Trucking & Landscape Products of Putnam for their recent help with our project at the Woodstock Historical Society (Center for Woodstock History) which was begun with funds from a grant from The Garden Conservancy. The project that began last year with the removal of trees and installation of native bushes has been completed with their help. Gary delivered the loam from Provost free of charge, and Provost was most generous in the amount of loam delivered. The area now has new grass seed and the transformation is amazing! Thank you

Another successful plant sale is in the books! We owe a debt of gratitude to the Woodstock Fair for the use of the Ag Barn, the Boy Scouts who help with set up, parking, loading cars, and clean up, all of the customers who support our efforts and buy the plants, and all of the garden club members who so generously donate their time, talents, and plants to make this sale the largest in the area. Thank you all for funding our scholarships and Civic projects!!!

Help Save the Pollinators – Bee City USA Meeting

Join us on Thursday, June 4th at 6:30 PM at the Brooklyn Community Center at 31 Tiffany Street to start making Brooklyn a Bee City USA Town!

Bees, butterflies, and other pollinators help grow the food we eat and keep our
environment healthy, but they are disappearing. Habitat loss, pesticides, and climate
change are all taking a toll. Monarch butterflies, for example, have dropped by more
than 80%.

Bee City USA (https://beecityusa.org/) is a group of over 200 towns and cities across
the country working to protect pollinators through local action, community events,
and setting a good example. We want Brooklyn to be one of them. This month we
will start organizing our committee and planning our next steps.

Everyone is welcome — no experience needed!
