I am convinced that playing piano is a huge part of Evan’s miraculous recovery from TBI. Using both hands simultaneously, even with the hemiparesis he has on the right side of his body, has strengthened his mind and his hand-eye coordination. In fact, today he was evaluated by OT and PT for his upcoming robotics intensive at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the OT who evaluated him determined that he did not need the OT portion of the intensive this summer. He passed all of her tests! Thank you to Miss Ann for her love and patience during piano lessons and to Evan’s entire care team for getting him to where he is today!

One year ago today, Evan came home after 10 long weeks in the hospital. Those weeks were filled with fear, pain, prayers, uncertainty, and more strength than we ever knew we had. We were forced to place our trust in strangers who guided us through some of the hardest moments of our lives and helped carry us through the unknown. When Evan finally came home, we were surrounded by friends and loved ones whose prayers, support, and unwavering love carried us through every step of the journey.

Today, we are living our best lives in paradise, soaking in every moment together and never taking for granted the gift of being a family, healthy, happy, and side by side. The little things mean more now. The laughter feels louder. The memories feel sweeter. And every single day together is a blessing we will never overlook again.

Just 14 months after his traumatic brain injury, Evan is finishing 5th grade on the HONOR ROLL!

After missing a full quarter of school, Evan had to work harder than ever to catch back up academically and relearn things that once came easily to him. Evan could have easily used his injuries as an excuse. But he didn't! Instead, he chose to prove to the world that he could achieve despite his injuries!

Evan is an 11-year-old kid who is determined to live his life exactly the way he was meant to live it, with friends, laughter, goals, dreams, and a determination that inspires everyone around him.

We are so proud of everything he has accomplished this year and so thankful for the teachers who believed in him along the way.

We truly cannot wait to see what this kid does in middle school.

This time last year, our miracle child needed help to walk and climb stairs. Today, he was bowling! I’m so proud of this kid. Nothing stops him!
