Yesterday, Local 4813 experienced two significant milestones. Lt. Pat Keefe retired from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District after 40 years of service. Lt. Keefe began his career in 1985 with the Woodstock City Fire Department, prior to it's consolidation into the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District as it's known today. Over the last 40 years he has mentored and inspired countless firefighters in the meaning of our mantra, Service Before Self. We wish Lt. Keefe the best of luck as he transitions into a life of fishing and being a full-time grandpa.

Yesterday also marked the promotion of Firefighter Jake Biederer to the rank of lieutenant. Jake has served the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District since 2008 and currently serves as Vice President of Local 4813. Lt. Biederer is poised for a long career of leadership and we look forward to the many talents he brings to the organization!

Congratulations to both men on these much deserved milestones!!

We hope to see everybody tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the day! Join us for our annual Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Station 3, located at 2900 Raffel Road in Woodstock. We will have fire truck displays, station tours, hands-only CPR demonstrations, a kids firefighter agility course, and partner tables from local agencies including Woodstock Police Department, McHenry County Sheriff's Office, Northwestern Medicine, and Nicor Gas.

Don’t miss the 11:00 a.m. high-angle rescue demo by the Technical Rescue Team and the 1:00 p.m. helicopter landing, weather permitting. Refreshments will be available courtesy of Jewel-Osco. It is going to be a great day for the whole family. We hope to see you there!
